Mini Owners Not Waving Back!

My first car was an original mini, and when driving I always waved at other original mini owners, and almost always got a wave back, or a flash of headlights, honk of horn or something. But since being a new mini owner, I have found that only about 1 in 10 actually bother waving back. Which is really disapointing, and most mini drivers look miserable, it should be an enjoyable experience driving!

I spent a couple of hours driving around ashford/canterbury area yesterday and not one mini driver waved back!

Why is this and Is this a thing new mini drivers dont do?

I just think there's too many on the road now that seeing another one is not unusual like it was when I got my MINI back in 2003.

We're all looking miserable because we're wondering what will break next and trying to work out where those annoying rattles are coming from.

Probably because 1 in 10 owners of new MINI are fans, the others its just a mass market car like any other. Classic mini's are owned in a higher ratio of fans to people that just use it as a car now

Its only a forum you know!

When i got my MINI in 2001 and my auntie got one in 2002, most new MINIs were waving and flashing, but not really any more.

I have been getting more waves recently tbh. The other day quite a few mini drivers waved to me and flashed to say hello which was nice. It was the first time since i have got the car that people have done that.

Alot of minis with R plates are flashing more and saying hello and parking beside me etc to chat at nights when im out and about but that is because of the mods.

I wish more people would do it but as Rakey said, 1 in 10 are mini enthusiasts lol

I parked next to a MINI with with almost the same registration as me the other day -- just one letter different - mine ends R, his ends S.

I found myself only waving to black MINIs and now only to black first gen MINIs, if at all.

thats pretty rare to only have one letter different on the numberplate.

I meant R plates, as in restriced drivers within one year of passing their test. The big R on the front and rear windows lol.

Aaah, LOL. I wasn't thinking. Of course, it would have been a Y plate that the first 2001 MINIs had.

Not had a single wave/flash returned yet Always look at fellow MINI drivers when I pass them on the motorway, and have been surprised by the number of retired owners. I think I read somewhere, if you remove company car sales, the MINI is about the 4th best selling car in the country With such a broad spectrum of people buying, perhaps it is not so surprising that so few wave
