Greetings all!

After some spectacularly bad luck (and a bit of a b*lls up on my part), I found myself having to buy two cars in a hurry.

So, I went to a car supermarket website and found a few minis on it and thought "Hmm, wonder if I can get a Mini?" then "Hmm - what about a Cooper?" then "well, if I am going to get meself a Mini, might as well go the whole hog...".

Long story short, I now possess a shiny red Cooper S and am now in need of cosmetic surgery to remove the permanent grin

Wasn't expecting it to be as quick as it is, going to have to watch the old speed methinks (can anyone say "PocketGPSWorld speed cams update"?!).

Just a quick question, can anyone confirm that the model I have is an R53?

Yes 1st Gen MINI Cooper S = R53

Thats a facelift version (late 2004 on) version of the Gen 1 R53 (Cooper S). Yes is feels very quick for 165/170BHP

ive got a jcw 2005 model that only has 16obhp @ wheels on a rolling road and 183 bhp @ fly so yours will probablybe quicker than mine for a lot less money?.
