Red face How to price a 'special' mini

Hi

I know we ALL think our mini's aree special and indeed I'd agree 300%. However, when you do have a mini that most would say 'yep thats um different', how do you put a price on it. I mean I know you can't just tot up all the add-ons, but IS there a formulae?

I need to sell my mini and have put it up for a high price cos reallly deep down I'm very very very distraught to be selling it, but my head says I should, any ideas what it should go for I got offered 16k at a dealership (but they want to strip it back to basics and I want an enthusiast to keep it roughly the same) I know privately I'd get more than the dealership. (It is the for sale section and you won't miss it I assure you ) Any ideas anyone, apart from you wouldn't give tuppence for it

Hi,
I'm sorry but I think you need to get real about what your Mini is worth - it simply isn't worth the £20,000 you are asking...........a GP it is not.

I won't comment either way on the "special" mods but I don't think they add any value to the car.

There is a 54 plate factory works convertible on Piston Heads with much lower mileage and higher spec than yours in the very popular dark silver for £17,000.

That is a far more realistic price and that particular car is unmolested (according to the description, pictures someone..........).

Certainly a "unique" Mini you have there - good luck with the sale..

£20k is a bit steep in my opinion.

Sorry but 20K is a lot for that car!

I'd take what the dealer is offering!

I can see why the dealer wants to make some changes!

To be honest the dealers offering you a good deal as...

a.) Its a soft top and will sit on the forecourt till early summer!
b.) It won't be to everyones taste with those graphics!
c.) There's a brand new Convertible model just around the corner!

Grab that deal whilst you can! Imagine how long it would take to sell ANY car for that sort of money privately. Let alone the risk of doing such a thing... who knows who can turn up on your doorstep.

Strip it back to standard, sell it to the dealer and sell your mods on here\ebay for the extra cash.

Personally i think the vinyl looks good as its a professional job and would look great on a show car but for a stealer it will make it harder to shift as it will narrow their market audience for this car! as already said as nice as it would be to get an enthusiast interestend in buying your car as it is i would advertise it privately and return it to standard a few days before trading it in and accept their offer!! Put a notice in the window! i've sold all my previous cars this way and trust me a car like yours will grab attention and may lead to a sale!

Good luck!

in the words of Ricky gervais, Are you having a laugh

This one i saw on Pistonheads is worth what its up for

Hollingworth at Ombersley : Mini Cooper S Convertible

However thats a hell of a lot better spec and all dealer fitted, so not sure how yours cvould ever be worth more. I think 16k is an amazing offer, i would snap their hands off, i bet that offer won't be here next week, so move quick

you obviously like what you have done to your mini, but I would say you have made it very difficult to sell.

nice to look at, but I feel very few people would be happy driving around in it, as it says "look at me" to everyone and his granny, if you know what I mean, hence you have excluded a vast amount of your potential market !!

If you really want to sell it for the best price I would as other posts have suggested bring it back to standard as much as possible.

Take a look at my MCSCa, posted for sale right after yours in the classifieds. Also highly customized, I restored it to original to sell. Anyone buying it would probably want to customize it to their own taste, not pay extra for mine. just an opinion. I love that car and don't really want to sell it, but it's better to sell than to let it sit in my garage.

The company that did it is the same company that does the bonnet stripes and any other extra's in vinyl's or any other paint work for the dealer So technically not BMW fitted but BMW approved

Got to agree, £20k for a '54' plate MINI is madness. The dealer offer sounds very generous indeed.

I think I have to agree with the majoity above. The price you have to pay for a fully customised Mini come re-sale time, is that you will take a larger hit in depreciation than a similarly spec'd Mini - A personalised Mini is just that - Chances are that the prospective buyer may be put off because its been personalised. Just my 2ps worth
