I've been a passenger in one and my Dad loves his to bits. Mid-range, it pulls really well and is effortless with the amount of torque it has!

This is mainly the reason I bought the Dooper I didnt really do 'high' mileage in my ONE, but the R56 Cooper just didnt do it for me, and the S was gonna be just that bit too much, so the Dooper is perfect

Diesel; cheaper to run, a lot more refined than the tractor days of old, more pull mid-range, super low road tax, 'free entry' into london (whoopeedoo...) and the engine (with regular servicing and check ups) will last much longer than a petrol.

Basically what everyone else said.

And remember - the £1000 premium you pay when new will be returned (and more) when you sell it on in c3 years time.

Glad you agree . In essence, you don't need to be too much of a high-milage user to benefit from it. To be honest, I guess you'll want to drive the Dooper more than your ONE as it'll be easier and more fun to drive?

However, I'm going nuts for the Cooper S. You can never beat petrol, even with the Diesel's positives for economy . I fell in love with the raw power that can equal with the ability to really grip well on the roads.

Don't forget that the engine in the new Mini Cooper Diesel is the same as in the Peugeot 206, 207, 307 etc and has been very reliable. If you read any tests on those cars you will see how highly rated it is and how long lasting. My wife has the 206 with that engine & it is realy nippy and she has had no problems at all.
