A little bit lighter and slightly lower drag coefficient compared to the standard MCS mean that it isn't too much worse on fuel.

And it will take more than an idiot with grey hair and black eyebrows to drag me out of it!

It wasn't so long ago when 'Road Tax' bands where based on the type of vehicle - motorcycles, passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles etc (reliant robins were actually classed as motorcycles and my dad did try to convince me to buy one ). Then it became linked to engine capacity, and now it's based on CO2 emissions.

Come the time when most cars are below the 120g/km threshold, the goalposts will either move down, or it'll be based on other emissions as well as CO2.

If you used V power or BP Ultimate, which increase fuel economy, you'll pay less tax through fuel duty because you won't be filling up so often, though with the prices of these premium fuels, I'm not sure how worthwhile it is.

BTW, you'll be paying 15 times more VED than me next year.

I'll be going 15 times faster than you in my JCW !!

What annoys me is the government takes manufacturers figures as gospel. Which Magazine has just tested the Mini D and instead of having BMW figures of MPG of 72.4 it managed 53.3 -26% worse and a CO2 of, BMW claimed 104 they recorded 133 +28% worse.

It sums up to me what a farce the whole thing is. Normally I would discount the majority of Which Road Tests but they have always been very minded towards green issues, so I don't have very much cause to dis-believe them in this case.

It almost makes me want to buy a Mini D!

Its all about who drives it.......but the fact it took them 5 minutes to reach 50mph wasnt recorded
