| MINI2 Newbie | Maybe a silly question re: lights Have recently bought clear rear lights and rear brake light, is it possible to change the fog light also so it is clear and get a red bulb?? Have searched around with no luck, but have seen some MINIs with a clear lense in bumper, is this now a reverse light?? Hope someone can help! On a sad note hit a HUGE pothole today and put a massive dent in my alloy, will cost about £65 to repair. not the end of the world, at least the tyre survived going to take picces of pothole and send nasty letter to council! |

![]() E's H2B | Sorry to hear about your alloy ![]() Pre facelift first gen MINIs (between 2001 and 2004) had a reversing light in the centre of the rear bumper and the fog lights were in the rear light cluster. From 2004 onwards, these have been swapped. I think maybe the ones you saw with the clear light in the bumper is a pre 2004 model. As far as I'm aware, it's not possible to get a 'clear' fog light, though I'm prepared to be corrected. D-lite-full |

![]() Skadoosh! | The pre-facelift first generation MINI had the reverse light in the bumper and the rear fog lights were part of the main rear light cluters. When the facelift came about in 2004, the fog lights were reduced to one and moved to the bumper. The reverse light became part of the main rear light clusters, giving you two reverse lights instead of one. I can't see no reason why you couldn't make the fog light a red bulb and put it behind a clear lense. EDIT: Beaten by Hickster. ![]() ![]() |

| MINI2 Newbie | Thanks, falling over each other to help me Any idea where i could get my hands on a clear lense?? Just think that will finish off the rear of the car nicely. Will post up a picture of alloy in moring, really is a cracking dent, dont know how i got away without damaging tyre! Guy at garage said run flats are "as hard as nails" AND they charge an extra £10 because they are harder to get on/off rims, is that right?! Or is he having me on?! Still thought £65 was pretty reasonable compared to a new rim. |

Offline | Just thought back to when I was looking at getting a 206 (I know, and before anyone says it was years ago when a MINI was only a dream, even then that's what i really wanted) and they also have a single fog light in the bumper. You could get clear lenses for these, but I don't think they were 'e-marked', so I'm not sure if your car would pass an MOT with this? This is just something I think I remember, I may be totally wrong... |

Offline | I had a classic Mini with Denovos and I always had to pay extra to have them removed. I'm told run flats are much more difficult to remove AND replace but £10.00 more difficult, maybe not. |

| MINI2 Senior | Lucky with the pothole incident! I had the same experience when I had my Clio, but I needed a new alloy and tyre. There was a 4x4 coming the other way, and was over my side of the road, so had to edge near the verge - that's when I hit the 6" deep pothole! The two big scuff marks on the inside of the rim, are where the alloy hit the axle (correct word?) and knocked the toe, camber and cross camber out by 3.5cm - should only be about 1.5mm. I claimed (from the council) for a front alloy wheel, front tyre, wheel alignment and 1 years road tax, along with a rear tyre (was ballooned, which could have been caused by the impact), and headlight bulbs (which had blown) -£420 in total, of which, I think they paid me £275 (£420 less road tax and bulbs). I could have taken it further, but I was happy with that. Apologies for going off topic... ![]() Last edited by OJM : Mar 16th, 2008 at 06:42 PM. |

Offline | I was just going to point you in the direction of "mikeythemini" for a red bulb with a white reverse light as he has supplied bulbs & possibly lights for other users on here so if he hasn't got anything on the website send him a PM. Check out "mikeythemini's" website. (NewMINIStuff.com) As usual I'm too late because if you followed the link by "Drewuk" post #6, it states it in that thread somewhere .![]() ![]() ![]() Destined to live life £5 behind.
