Does anyone have an old skool UK black and silver number plate on their car and if so, do you get any hassle from the police?

I was looking at this last week, we has a discussion in our local section about this.

The car has to be pre 1st jan 1973 to be allowed to have back and silver plates. I was wanting them for my Dark silver\Black S

You should only have these on vehicles built before 01/01/73.

If you were on my patch with this, I'd definitely be stopping you!

Hmmmm

Yup I already guessed it would be illegal and frowned upon. I guess I get a set made and then whack then on when I go across to Le Mans. Purely asethetic, but I am sure the French coppers will not bother with then. Did see a black DB9 with some on the M25 recently, it looked klass

I saw a bright orange Lambo with "28 HOT" in black/silver right in the centre of London. I guess if you can afford cars like that you can afford to get away with it...... if you know what I mean.

I have them legally on my pre 1973 Classic Mini

....................... but it must be very obvious to any police officer that no New MINI with black/silver plates was ever on the road before 2001, did see a black New MINI Cabriolet on Top Gear run with them fitted though.
