DRL Activation...East Bay Mini

I'm pikcking up my S on the 28th at 11:00 a.m. (sorry, I just had to tell someone

Question: My sales person is telling me that they can NOT activate the Daylight Running Lights 'yet' because their software can't do it. Does that sound right??? or do I need to talk with someone else?

Thanks

Ken

Correct

To my dismay and amazement the dealers were not provided with software capable of programming all the neat things the car is able to do. I am told they will have new software sometime this fall??

The software is available, but obviously not in the US.

I wonder why not.

Exclamation What!!!

That's crazy!

It's a piece of software for mini's sake! The dealer should get it down the phone line!

Thats like a butcher who has no knives to cut his meat!

Or a baker who has no icing for his cakes!

Design rules may have something to do with it. In Oz, DRL's are an available programmable option.

They are on all MINI's in the US but apparently the dealers have no way to program them ????

Not all dealers, some

Its an issue of some dealers, not all. I realize this makes even less sense, but Classic for instance didn't know how to program DRL's when I went in in May, but "figured" it out sometime in June. They just recently figured out comfort opening, but it involves a call to BMW support. I'd call around, maybe some other dealers in the area can do it. I doubt they're lying to you, its just one of those weird things that really should get fixed, but probably won't since its indicative of a deeper organizational problem.

Well, when they get the software it takes around 2 minutes to change your options, so don't get palmed off with being charged for it.
