glued on number plate?

Should I be annoyed that the dealer has glued the number plates onto my new Clubman?

I seem to remember being told that it prevents theft of plates and that the DVLA recommend it as best practice. they can be removed if you change the plates, its just harder work and means the original plate is useless afterwards.

Also smooth plates with no unsightly fixing screws showing !
You can buy the sticky pads for fixing Numberplates in Halfords. I have pulled them off before without damaging car or plates but new secure type plates are designed to break on removal to prevent theft for cloning.

I had my dealer remove my screwed on plates, as the screws messed with my private reg. My new plate got stuck on. The stuck on plate needed removing and replacing, and this was done without too much trouble.
I wouldn't worry about plates being stuck on

I thought that plates had to be screwed on by law? Perhaps I mis-read the article.

My glued on plates fell off 4 x times so I got the dealer to screw them on in the end.

My dealer used a double sided sticky tape. He said if you were a bit mean with it, the plate may become loose. Mine had loads put on and was secure

It fell off twice between the BMW tech driving the car from the inspection bay through to the customer car pick up point.........................the 2nd time he ended up rolling over the plate & breaking it

Mini put the wrong number plate on my car, luckily it was screwed on, so was replaced with the correct number plate without any bother.
