We took delivery of the car on Saturday, drove it quite a bit Saturday and Sunday, and had to take it in for service Tuesday afternoon.

Issues:
  1. The tint done by the dealer was not what we asked for. Not only that, it was something they told us they never did. We wanted the side windows all tinted an equal shade, and the rear door glass tinted a shade or two darker for privacy protection of the cargo area. The side rear windows are tinted darker than the fronts, something the dealership themselves told us that they did not do, because they wanted all their tint work to look OEM.
  2. The car came from the factory with an alignment issue. We didn't notice it until we drove on the highway, but it had a distinct pull to the right. You'd think that when they road test it during PDI, that they might catch something like that. Further evidence that the stupid money we pay to dealers for their "Pre-Delivery Inspection" is paying for absolutely nothing.
  3. The tires were poorly balanced. Not a MINI or dealership issue, but with our third-party tire shop who mounted and "balanced" (i use that term lightly) a set of Kumho Ecsta run-flats on a set of OEM MINI R108 wheels. They clearly did a poor job of it.
  4. On Tuesday morning, the check engine light came on solid amber. The gas cap was securely fastened after the tank was topped up on Sunday evening. Apparently the error code is something along the lines of, "Super-fine leak detected." The service advisor, service manager and technicians are all stumped, because they could find no evidence of a leak anywhere in the fuel or emissions system, and the cryptic error message is not explained any further in their documentation. So they're hanging on to the vehicle while they consult with MINI engineers about this issue.
So we've owned the car since Saturday, and it's now been at the shop for 24 hours, and they're holding it for at least another day.

Splendid.

I'm sorry to read this - and do think it sounds highly irregular. Wish you had posted on the Clubman forum http://www.mini2.com/forum/mini-clubman/ - perhaps you will in the future. Hang in there - believe me this is not normal for a MINI experience.

Thanks for the link. I've posted the factory flaws in a thread over there.
