We didn't get one!??

Thou on my beemer it has the plastic key and an adaptor in the glovebox so you can fit the key into the slot and start the car!

I thought that by using the fob to unlock the car it also knocks off the alarm to prevent this happening? My alarm was going off and wouldn't turn off until my fob worked 5 embarrassing minutes later.

The house alarm was going off (it was still rining when i got back from work).. so even if the car alarm went off.. no-one did anything.. or it failed to attract any attention... but I see you point.. how can you drive it off if it's got standard alarm/immobiliser?

Still no news....

Where in Birmingham are you from? I'm damn certain I saw that car last week in the Merry Hill area but it may have been before it was stolen.

This is one of the reasons I'm selling the Works, I'm paranoid that something is going to happen to it or it will get stolen, I've even gone to the extent of putting CCTV on the front of the house to cover it.
I hope you get to see your car again if thats what you want, but to be honest once my pride and joy had been ragged around by thieving scumbags I'd hope they put it out of its misery by torching it.

Gutted to hear this

Will keep my eyes open for it as I'm also in the Birmingham area. My mom also had her MINI stolen in January, they broke into the house to take the keys and the car was never seen again

White Cooper Gutted!

Sorry to hear the news about the Cooper S!

I know exactly how you feel - I'd gone mad and bought a brand new Scoob just over a year ago. I'd had a used one before and was so chuffed with my brand new one. 3 months (and 2350 miles) later my house was broken into while the wife was away and I was in bed. A thieving ***** had it away with my jacket, keys, wallet, mobile, laptop....and car!!

It was ragged senseless (off-roading, clocked in M4 roadworks at 133mph..!!!) and crashed 2 days later after a high speed blow-out. I almost cried when I went to see it but luckily - due to issues getting Subaru panels - it was immediately declared a Cat D write-off.

Worst of all the Police arrested someone a week later (DNA evidence). He was almost 13 years old and got a 6-month stretch in a YOI. Little ****er!!!!!

I hope you have better luck than I did but now I have a Cooper S and take my keys to bed every night..... I saw the Scoob for sale recently on ebay - and some mug bought it........

When I'm at home I leave the keys where they can be easily found if someone breaks in. I was given this advice by my old bosses wife (a police officer) who said "Would you rather they found the keys easily and mad off with the car leaving you asleep, or you get woken up with a shotgun in your face and someone demanding the keys".

And if you speak to Mikey at NewMINIstuff he can sort your car out so it doesn't matter if they nick the keys, they won't get far

so true.. my boss got his leg shot when he refused to hand over keys to his Evo 8 FQ340 and TVR tamora... just missed one of the main veins in his leg.. not worth it for a bullit..

As for the key system.. i still got my keys... but the debate still goes on if u can start car with the dummy key... i tried my brother-in-laws keys in his cooper.. opened but didn't start....?
