Angry Crunching noise when turning the steering!

am having alot of probs with my 2002 bmw mini cooper! the latest is a crunching noise when turning at low speed... it can be heard inside and outside the car... it doesnt always do it but it doesnt sound healthy!

anybody got any ideas? dont think its the joint under the dash in the car as its noiser outside the car than in!

Probably CV joint. Do you hear it when moving off when turning eg out of a junction?

You hear it when ur turning corners or parking/turning into driveway... you generally hear it at 5mph and less....

Traveled around 100miles yesterday and since ive got back the crunching is ALOT worse!!

Also when ur driving down the road theres a knocking noise comming from drivers side! not always there but does it alot!

they will go away, stick with it, its the 2002 range they (not all of them) but most suffer alot with these issues. Most of the time they have bee sorted because of their age.. does sound like im afraid. When parking and turning the wheels does it crunch, like going over snow? can you feel it ging through the steering wheel?

Its what mine had then..The cars still drivable and if it still gets you from a to b leave it. Only other things I can think of you doing Is going to an aftermarket mini place or a non bmw garage or try another stealer. Where u from? Mine was the lower part the spindle I think they called it. The part was cheap but its that dam labour rate!

Better going to dealer or mechanic and they'll know straight away, hard over the interweb

Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooook Latest update!!!

Have greased up most the steering joiints.... and noise has kind of went a bit quiter!

if you turn right theres no crunching or noise... if u turn left when u get to the last half a turn it starts to crunch... cv joints seem fine and if it was the spindle id expect it to crunch when turning left and right....
