Question Unidentified Warning signal!

My wife recently became the proud owner of an '04 plate Mini Cooper. Lovely car - well pleased with it. On two occasions however, a strange "warning" has appeared in the trip computer. First there were 3 short "beeps", then a flashing figure "30" preceeded by some small text which was too small to read quickly. On both occasions, the "warning" disappeared after a few seconds.

The car drives fine, and there is no sign of anything amiss, so I am at a loss to know what the "warning" signifies. On both occasions, it read "30" preceeded by small text.

Anyone here any ideas before I embarass myself by asking our local Mini dealer?

Many thanks,

Cliff

Sounds like your MINI is telling you it's cold outside and there may be ice on the roads.

When the temperature drops to 3°C or below it chimes to warn you and then flashes the temperature display in the rev counter. If you have the onboard computer, and you've got it set to display the speed it will briefly switch to the temperature display and then switch back once it has finished flashing.

In short, it's nothing to worry about.

Thanks for the prompt reply - what a thoughtful car the Mini is!!

Only found out yesterday that the windows and sunroof can be opened with the remote control from outside the car. It's like watching something from Gerry Anderson.

They can be closed too. Not remotely, but by placing the key in the lock and holding it in the locking position.

It's a programmable option on the first generation MINI. I presume it's the same for the second generation.

Thanks to mr KB I realised it was me doing it and not my car doing it by itself!
