can you use parts from a r56 on a r50?

Can you use the parts from the new shape mini's on the older phase 1 mini's?

I know you can you use the wheels but what about the interior? or even in a mad idea how about a turbo cooper s engine in the older cooper s?

I know the outside panels are totally different but it would be nice to use the new shape mini seats in the older style mini.

There are the odd bit's that will fit some needing a little modification (not sure about the seats, Ive been asked a few times so I would like too know if they fit).

But basically there isn't that much compatible as the 2nd Gen MINI is a totally different car too the 1st Gen although it looks similar.

Saying that, where there's a will there's a way and nothing is impossible (I could be wrong on that) .

Can't think where to look, but I recall somebody once posted images of someone who managed to get a first gen ('BMW') MINI interior into a Classic Mini!

I saw pic's of that once, couldn't be much room left for the driver (I think a few have done it though ).

I know / sold a guy a complete MINI power steering system who fitted it too a Classic Mini! (probably wish he hadn't bothered now ), also seen MINI rear lights fitted too a Mini.

On the original thread front, there are a few threads on here where brakes etc... etc... off a 2nd Gen have been fitted too a 1st Gen.

I can tell you that the new turbo Cooper S engine will not fit underneath the bonnet of the R53 Cooper S. The bonnet line on the R56 was lifted several inches to fit the much taller engine, as well as allowing extra "crush room" for pedestrian's heads

I have read that the R56 seats can be retro-fitted to the R50/R53, though the more useful upshot of this is that the original R50/R53 seats might then be retro-fitted to the R56

Is this the (mad) picture that you were thinking of?!

Thanks! "Tigger, Eeyore & Roo" that's the pic, cool they actually got it in without it looking too distorted (I bet they've got a few squeaks & creeks , but who hasn't), what's the maddest the pic or the person that did it, I used to like doing stuff like that but I did used to just face-lift revisions of the same car / model, quite easy really, I also know a few who have took full climate units (A/C, heater box etc... etc...) from MINIs too fit in-to Minis but I've never seen it all actually fitted working .

Nice to know about the seats especially if you have some nice front ones .
