Red Cooper New to the forum, hello all

Hello all,

it looks like we have purchased a Cooper for the missus this week, 02plate, mini cherished car with 40k on the clock. we are due to collect the car on saturday from mini main dealer.
I have got lots of questions, your help is appreciated,
apparently the car has a chili pack, what should have been included in this when new?
does this engine have a plastic/rubber cam belt or chain?
if its a belt, when should it be changed?
what are the limitations of the 12 month cherished warranty?
can anyone recommend a good mini magazine, all the ones we have seen have been dedicated to the original austin car.
what is included in the inspection 2 service?as a bm owner i am familiar with the service indicator schedule,(and the rip off prices charged by the main dealer, always use independent) but i was wondering exactly what procedures are carried out.

so many questions!!! cool site by the way, thanks,

bissell

In answer to one of the questions, there really is only one mag devoted to MINI, and that's Modern MINI. It's not bad for a quick flick through, but to be honest, the more time you spend on here, the more you will realise that this really is your one stop shop for all things MINI.

If you need any questions answered, MINI2 is the place to come - I have seen Modern MINI answer questions with a flat "no this is not possible" and if you spend 5 minutes on MINI2, you see it's not only possible, someone has invariably tried it before you (and succeeded )

Welcome to MINI2 by the way - enjoy the new car

Aldo, cheers for your reply, where in ch*st*r?
We ended up avoiding HJ's at two mills, their cherished prices seemed overinflated, ended up at Warrington. got an okay deal and the sales fellas seemed okay.
when has the poly belt got to be changed?

Hello Bissell and welcome to MINI2!!

Chili pack includes Xenon Lights, Aircon, half leather sports seats and a few other bits and pieces

The supercharger is belt driven, if this fails it can lead to water pump damage etc. The main engine is chain drive though, so there's no cam belt

Inspection 2 is the first major service which includes spark plugs, air filter, oil filter, oil change, pollen filter - all the usual aspects of a full service

Hope that helps...

Jon

Croeso i M2 Bissell.
Think Minicabrio and the guys have covered it all above really. As Nylo says Modern MINI mag is available and fills some quiet time. It's the best and usually any news/meets in there, appeared somewhere on M2 earlier. It's the main problem with magazines that are monthly, when M2 is live 24/7. I also agree with Nylo that their advice is conservative to say the laest and not always wholy accurate. It does seem to be selling well though as it is now far easier to track down than it was, try Smiths or Tesco.

Welcome to the site.

p.s, Minicabrio, I think Bissell said his new motor was a Cooper, not an S.

James.

If the cars a Cooper the Chili pack won't include Xenons or Air Con, these are extras. The Cooper Chili pack will have included stuff like; 1/2 Leather Sports seats, Upgraded 16" or 17" wheels, chrome line exterior, roof spoiler, mats, map pockets on back of seats, glove box(???), Boost Stereo. Not sure what else to be honest.

Don't think the glove box or trip computer will be on there. Bissells is a 2002 and my sisters One with the Salt pack is a 51 reg with no glove box or no trip computer.

Hope this helps!

It's complicated isn't it?

We've just bought a 54 plate Cooper with a Chilli pack, but it has 15" wheels. Has all the opther stuff though and appears to have Xenons. Are they the only Mini lights that 'self-level' on switch on?

2004 Mini Cooper : Chilli Red : full leather : air con : panoramic sun-roof : Chrono pack : Union Jack : Big Grin

Welcome to the site, hope you and your wife enjoy the new car and have lots of mini adventures!!
As the other have said, mini2 is your best bet for any help or advice. Modern Mini is ok for a quick flick through and a nosey at other peoples cars!
My Cooper also has the Chilli Pack as as far as I can gather this includes the half leather seats, sports suspension, fog lights, mats, lighting pack, 16 inch star alloys. The aircon and glovebox were additional to the Chilli pack. My dad has just had an 08 MCS and his Chilli pack is different to the earlier models.
Don't know much about servicing, but mine is also due it's 40K
