Offline | I would really like to thank you guys for getting the configurator out for those of us that never had access. The dealers in my area don't have this or are not making it available. This seems like something they should have had since they openned. It will help people figure out what they like and dont like. Again, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!! 94SwiftGT |

Offline | Option for people without a cd burner For those that don't want to burn this to a cd (or don't have a cd burner) you can run it straight off your hard drive (PC only). After you extract the file from the zip (or just DL'd them all straight), download daemon tools 3.17 at http://www.daemon-tools.org/daemon_tools.htm and install. A little red disk icon will come up in your system tray. What this does is make your system think that you have another CD/DVD drive installed in your system. Right click on this icon and move up the menu to virtual cd/dvd, a new menu will come up, move to Drive 0 then select mount drive. Navigate to where the MINI files are located and select all files in 'file type', then select the IMAGE.img file and open. A few seconds later an error box will come up, click OK. A black box will then appear. I think there is a bit of a bug but if you click on the last sentence on the left side another windows box will come up, click ok. You are now running the program. One bit of advice with Daemon tools, when you are right clicking to set everything up, I would also go to options and uncheck auto start unless you want daemon tools to load as a cd everytime you start windows (in My Computer there will still be the extra drive but you can't use it till you start up daemon tools). You can also uncheck automount if you don't want it to automount the MINI files everytime. Hope this helps. Fibik |

Offline | Re: Re: here's a mirror My ISP does not charge per amount of bandwidth. If they get cranky and try to block port 80 (which they've never done) I can always work around it. I see that 2.2 GB have been downloaded over the past 18 hrs or so. Keep it up folks.Again... I've not tested that ISO file, so someone PM me or post if they find that it works/doesn't work. I've updated my links to have ZIP files. 57 MB for the Clone-CD format... 42 MB (!!!) for the ISO image. ![]() I'll remove the bloated files later and stick with only ZIP files... everyone should know how to use ZIP files by now (I hope). Offline | Hey CID, you told me that about 100 MINI drivers should download the program, so far, in 24 hours, more then 175 downloads!!! ![]() My providers said not to worry about the traffic. I believe he has read all the good comments on this program. lets count 175 x 270 MEGS = 47.250 MEGS in 1 day. hmm, thats a lot. ![]() |

Offline | Not that I'm not grateful and stuff - this is fab and I will definitely try to download it tonight at home. But it strikes me that since it dosen't actually need to be burnt to CD, couldn't it go on the web directly? Is this some sort of copyright issue. Like I say - not very worried myself - will fire up the old beast at home and should be able to look at it tomorrow morning ![]() Black ONE - Salt Pack, Boost, CD Changer, ASC&T, 8 Spokes, Alarm and Glovebox Arrived 16/10/02 and I love it ![]() Driving lights, aero spoiler and some chrome bits to follow... |

Offline | I haven't seen it but apparently it lets you spec up your Mini and see an image of how it will look....and unlike the standard one on the official website you can see the interior, exterior add things like bonnet stripes, driving lights and all that sort of stuff... Hope that helps, paul ![]() Black ONE - Salt Pack, Boost, CD Changer, ASC&T, 8 Spokes, Alarm and Glovebox Arrived 16/10/02 and I love it ![]() Driving lights, aero spoiler and some chrome bits to follow... |

Offline | I managed to download the configurator this morning using ADSL; it took about one and a half hours to complete the download and another hour to find software that would actually decode the disk image correctly ![]() If you have a CD writer, tools available at http://www.clonecd.net/ (recommended) or http://www.burndrive.com/ will create a software CD from the downloaded files. It is a MINI configurator that enables you to configure a MINI using various options and to view the car both externally (at various angles) and internally (just one view); you can load and save configurations as well as printing out your configuration as "MY MINI". The options available are rather strange; matt chrome and the infamous "fine wood version" dashboard trims are available, but there are no half leather options for the S - it turns out (courtesy of the small print on the "MY MINI" printout) that the configurator is for German specification MINIs. No Silk Green for the Germans! And the program has some annoying bugs, especially if you change models later (you can end up with a Cooper complete with a One interior!) and it sometimes has a habit of changing pictures for some bizarre reason, but it is good for visualising options so you can easily find out what a base spec MINI One with a Cordoba beige steering wheel, wood effect dash and chrome handbrake grip looks like! (Though the Solid Gold colour looks like orange on my monitor!) |
