Charity Ball - people who are not coming (yet) - please have a read

I think that there must be some people who think the Charity Ball event is not for them as they won't know anyone there and don't want to be 'on their own'.

Let me be the first to say that there is no reason to feel like that - we were all at that point at some time when we joined M2. Anyone remember their first run and the trepidation that it might have caused? Did you think "Are these people I'm meeting all going to be internet weirdos/geeks?"

All those who have plucked up the courage to come to runs and previous M2 events will, I'm sure confirm that they have had fun days and made some great new friends as a result.

So all I ask is that if you are one of those who are thinking you may not 'fit in' you should re-consider. If you want we will even put first-timers on the same table so that everyone has at least one other thing in common.

So don't just read this and then move on. Come and join a great, fun, group of people and lose your M2 event virginity.

Tickets still available - and to those who are already confirmed - let's encourage them.

Remember, the MINI community spirit and camaraderie doesn't just stop at waving and flashing and helping each other on internet forums.

Yes, the Ball is a great way to meet like-minded people, and is a superb event in its own right.

So come and join us, and participate in a truly memorable evening.

And if you're still unsure, ask questions in this thread - there will always be somebody to provide an answer.

See you on the 17th May then.

I embarrassed to say that events like this do fill me with dread . What with having to dress up to the nines, being shy, being quite a rubbish dancer and not having a partner to go with . It all sounds rather stressful .

Are you me?

(Assuming you don't have a partner in the first place) you might meet somewhere there)

Apart from the fact I am actually quite shy and still plucking up the courage to go to a local meet (pathetic at age I know) the old boyfriend is finally having his next spine operation next week so all things are pretty much cancelled for the next 6 weeks. Then subject to that we are going to starting actually doing fun stuff again - roll on the boozy cruise from Helsinki to Stockholm with a bunch of thirsty Finnish colleagues - yay.

However, to the original post - I think that is really a lovely thing to write up for the shy ones amongst us. Deep down we all know that everyone is friendly and helpful. Nice one. xx

If you go, you will have fun I was really nervous about meeting up with a group of random people the first time I met people from M2, but I'm glad I did - I count those people as some of my closest friends and one a very very special friend indeed Everyone's friendly, I promise!

The ball is the 'must do' event of the year for sure

Also, to the men who don't have their own Dinner Jacket, and don't want to buy, Moss Bros do a very good hire service, and they're all nice suits

Don't be shy folks....

i honestly don't know what i'm getting into, but i have to say that all the mini2 people i've met over here in the last month and a half have been superb people and i'm looking forward to spending a drink-filled weekend with them even if i only know them by their usernames right now!

so yes, folks, if you're thinking you're too new to come, please come anyway!

Hyper I'm shy too, I know I have a partner now. We have been to the last 2 Balls and they were brillant even Manchester where it snowed, no taxi's from the resturant in town. You dont have to dance not everyone does.

I know its not the same but you go to the Herts meets and some of those people will be at the ball so its not as if you wont know anyone.

If I hadn't been brave 8 years ago (Life begins at 40 ) when I first went on line I never would have meet my hubby, we meet through a chat room. We use to have regular meets and have made lots of great friends. Before then I had been on my own with 2 kids for 13 years.

Im quite a shy person (honest ) and it took a lot to go to the first MINI Run back in May 06, but I did it and it was great Just to think ive known Chris & Jax for 2 years OMG! Lost count of how many new people ive met since then and all such lovely people (bar the one retard! ) and ive made so many fantastic friends!! (you all rock guys )

Unfortunatly I cant go to the ball this year, as ive already commited to doing the L2B But what I will say is, dont be shy folks, go along, lets face it, everyone going has at least one thing in common!! You'll get to meet so many great people and make lots of new friends

Do it, do it, do it

Welcome to 'The Rubbish Dancers Club' Andrew - we have lots of members going to the Ball.

Anybody out there prepared to give members of the RDC an hours tuition?

Drop me a pm if you like and I reckon you can get along
