 Gearstick comes out! We've had our new Mini Cooper for three months now. Just put the gearstick into sixth gear and the stick lifted right out!  It was only held in place by the gaiter. Luckily, it slotted straight back in but surely this can't be right! Gearbox still working fine. Will take it to our dealers asap but has anyone got any thoughts? Mike   |

 Mini gear stick comes out. I've had the same problem after buying my mini. The MINI dealer tells me that it is classed as 'trim' therefore not covered under the warranty which I could accept if it was just the gear knob at the top, but it is the whole stick, which I would class as an essential part of the mechanics of the car. Its dangerous and was sold to me like that. Not impressed MINI! |

| if the whole stick lifts out & gear change is not possible,that is a warranty issue,not to mention dangerous..imo I'd rather push my mini than drive a ford or anything french..  Criteria for buying a diesel..1)long journeys.2)motorway miles.3)minimum 14k mls per yr.. |
