| MINI2 Regular | Am I asking too much for my Mini Cooper? Had my 02 Cooper for sale on here and Pistonheads for a week and not had any enquiries. The Mini dealership said I should get £7000-7500 for it private. Should I have believed them, or is it the colour? http://www.mini2.com/classifieds/sho...t/3264/cat/500 Would appreciate your feedback folks! 57 Mini Cooper, Astro Black. |

Offline | I would say the dealers were bang on with that price, I sold my '02 cooper less than a year ago and it went for £8k and that was with a pepper pack, theres more extras on yours so I would say you should have no bother selling for more than the reduced price, maybe not much more but definitely some more. Have you put it in the classifieds here and other sites?? |

| Mini Madness | I think you are at least £500 too high with your pricing, particularly given that the car is in a bit of a marmite (like it or loathe it) colour. Taken from whatcar.co.uk 's online valuation: Mini Cooper Hatchback (01-) 1.6 16v 3dr 2002 (02)63,000 miles Dealer £6,460 Private £6,335 Part exchange £6,210 Trade £5,980 Cost new £11,560 We sold our similar spec, slightly higher mileage 02 reg Indi Blue Cooper last summer for only £6300. There may be adverts for lots of other Minis advertised for more money than the valuation but that doesn't mean they have or will sell for the asking price advertised. I'd drop the price if you've not had much response to the advert and make sure you advertise on the autotrader as well as specialised websites such as Mini2 and Pistonheads etc. Good luck with the sale. Offline | Totally agree with chris, just checked Parkers guide and it is even lower by private sale by £500 less than whatcar's estimate, they've got it at £5,835! maybe it is too high mate. thats depreciation for you. |

| MINI2 Master | Ok, yeah you could lower the price a bit, i would say 6500 minimum though. Also regardless of what others say about 5k figures in the what car and glasses guide. Minis are one of the few cars that buck that trend. You can chuck the books away as minis are very hard to price and everyone in the trade appreciates that. They are still a car thats bought emotionally rather than practicality. So one way of testing its value is to list on ebay for say 6900 buy it now and allow best offers , that gives a you a great idea. Also be prepaired to wait, cars do not sell over night unless you are lucky. Most people will be advertising for up to a month to sell a car privately. So don;t get dis heartened. Also on the colour front, god i wish i could have had that colour in the cooper S because i really like that, not sure on mixing it with the white roof, but i do like it. One thing on the looks you may want to do is put the standard rear lights back on if you have them as the white on the rear does not really look that great. pure silver seems to be the only colour that can pull of clear rears imho. was there a part ex figure offered on this car or is it a straight sell and no new purchase. |

| MINI2 Regular | Thanks for your feedback guys I appreciate it. I put it on Autotrader yesterday for the £6975 to see how it goes. I' thought I would have had more interest than I have had on here and Pistonheads. The colour is lovely in the metal, it is brown in dull light and a deep metallic burgundy when we get some sun. Its a colour that needs to be seen to be appreciated. Trouble with online valuations and dealerships is that the price is based on a basic Mini Cooper and then the Chili pack and doesn't take into account the extras on it which dealers push when they are selling a 2nd hand car. 57 Mini Cooper, Astro Black. Offline | Well thats it buddy, if someone likes it then they'll be prepared to pay that for it, everyones taste is different. I personally don't think its a bad looking mini at all and would say you should shift it for that price. |

| MINI2 Regular | The clear rear lights are from new and are Mini ones so I understand it. I got the car with 15,000 miles used from Mini in Coventry so I don't have the standard ones to put back on. But take your comments on board that cars don't sell overnight. 57 Mini Cooper, Astro Black. |

Offline | I'll second that. Nearly everyone like to modify their MINIs, yet people seem to prefer to buy a standard one and then modify it themselves. I guess there is perceived security in not buying a car that might have been "messed around with". I'd make it as standard as possible and either sell the parts privately, or using them as negotiating points at time of sale. Also, the first impression I got when looking at the photos was how dull the black trim looks (around the arches and along the bottom of the bumper) and the same goes for the lower front grille. First impressions count for a lot; I'd clean the car up and use some back to black or similar and retake the photos. Also, as has been said, bide your time. It may take weeks to get a price you're happy with. Tigger. |

Offline | Without a doubt it is the colour limiting the market for your nice condition / spec. MINI, as has been said it is like it or loathe it. I don't recall seeing many others on the road, so when a "like it" person comes along they should snap it up at the right price but it will take longer than a mainstream colour like Red or Black to sell. |

| VW GT Sport 170 TDI | Honestly, I think the colour is a bit of a problem - limited number of people are going to go for that. And the white wheels are not going to be everyones favourite either, and I have to say, for my money, the clear light clusters on the rear just look very strange against brown paintwork. You're definitely going to find it harder to sell than an equivalent car in a bold colour (silver, blue, black, red, etc) with silver alloys. If you are in a hurry, you're going to have to price it lower than the competition in your local area to shift it. As others have said, cars take time to shift. I'm sure you'll sell it, but I think you're going to have to go a fair bit lower than your current £6950 asking price. ![]() |

| MINI2 Regular | Thanks for the feedback guys. I have worked on the plastic trim and taken new photo's (and it was sunny) so this shows of the car in dull and sunny conditions. I have and added these to my advert on Autotrader. Fingers crossed I can find him a new home. Just a quick question... How do you get more than one picture on classified ads? 57 Mini Cooper, Astro Black. Last edited by appmacguy : Apr 25th, 2008 at 08:18 AM. Reason: Quick question added. |

| MINI2 Newbie | hi, i bought my 52 (2003) mini in white with black roof, chilli pack etc for £5500 with 60k on the clock ( full mini service history) It had 4 brand new goodyear run flats on it! So i think you defo will struggle to sell. People who buy these cars wont pay silly money and will wait for the right one at the right price. ive waited 6 months lol Jay |
