Offline | Breakdown cover dilemma I bought a 2002 mini one 8months ago and it now has 58,000miles on the clock and as yet have had no problem with the car. I`m due to take a trip to the Isle of Man for the TT in four weeks time and have to travel from south wales which will be quite a lengthy trip. As i`ve said the car is reliable so far but there`s a feeling that something will go wrong during my trip and wondered if it`s worth taking out breakdown cover. Do you have any thoughts on whether it`s worth the peace of mind what is the best cover to have. I don`t want to beakdown and spoil my trip, i can`t trust the mini to make the round trip without a hitch. Any advice would be great. ![]() |

Offline | Did you buy the MINI from a MINI cherished dealer? They provide 12months breakdown cover when you buy the car. If not, then its always something good to have. Even if your near home and the car breaks down, dont want to have to push it up your street. I used to work for a large breakdown/insurance company (the yellow one), and I would recommend the roadside, homestart and relay. Basically anywhere in the UK you are they will pick you up, take you home, to a garage or your destination. Hope this helps. |

Offline | Just wondering why you think it might break down, if it's been reliable so far? Certainly though if you don't already have MINI Cover then you should, as insurance, have something. The AA is a bit expensive nowadays but there are good cheaper alternatives such as Green Flag. Check with whoever you get, that they will cover you in the Isle of Man though. |

Offline | We have joint cover with the RAC and pay £9 something a month. This gives us roadside and recovery (not at home). Watch out for the basic levels of cover which will only tow you to the nearest garage - no use if you just want to get home and deal with the car later........ Worth the peace and mind, if you do break down without breakdown cover you may find you pay more in recovery costs than a yearly membership would have cost you!! ![]() |

| Wants an Audi | Have a look at Tesco braekdown cover, its only £79 a year for total care (£132 with the AA) and they use green flag. Some how it works out cheaper to get it from Tesco than direct from green flag .LINK: Car breakdown from just £33.00 a year with TESCO Car Breakdown | Tesco Finance & Insurance Worked a treat when I put petrol in my diesel 206 the other week, oh an then drove 87 miles. ![]() Now With Toyo Rubber!! ![]() |

![]() powered by coffee IVdrip™ | The IOM is only 9 by 31 miles ... and you'd never be further than maybe 15 from Douglas, where I'd presume you'd be staying ... so I am not sure that paying for towing would be any more expensive than taking out cover for the short while. Have fun in any case at the TT races ... I used to live in Douglas ![]() ![]() |

Offline | Thanks for all your sugestions guys, i shall investigate your sugestions. I normally would`nt bother with breakdown cover but there are so many horror stories on here on faults and breakdowns that i consider my self lucky that my car is reliable and don`t want to push my luck too far while on my holiday. ![]() |
