Offline | To haggle or not too haggle I am thinking (well more than thinking) about getting a factory JCW when they come out in July having never owned a Mini before I was wondering how easy it is to haggle money off mini's in General? If you have managed it what kind of deal did you get and did you get any extra toys for the car thrown in. Thanks Loader |

Offline | Hi Loader My advise is always haggle. Mini dealers are known for not budging and they will be especially tough on a new model. I managed to get a few % off my JCW mainly around the PE but did it through calm slow and good natured banter and at one stage the threat to leave to consider it over dinner. The worst they can do is say no and of course they will. My girlfriend nudged me for being so cheeky and it suprises me how many people are so shy when it comes to haggling as if its a bad thing. But times are tough out there with the Credit crunch so offer away, threaten to come back another day, visit other dealers etc Its fun and good luck regards Antony |

Offline | This is going to be my plan as well. At the end of the day they will not offer you a discount, nor will they sell you a car at a loss. They will tell you what a favour they are doing you for your future residuals by not offering a discount. I never hurts to remind them that people are not exactly banging down the doors to buy a car right now, and there are plenty more dealerships locally who you would use in a flash. I walked from one dealer after they said they could not match the price at my nearest delaer. They have been ringing and texting since. Says a lot, I think. If you are not happy with the deal, walk. The worst that can happen is your car will be delivered a week or so later... Brian. |

Offline | I found it extremely hard to get anything out of the dealers when I got my cooper s.I managed to get them to knock 100 pound off their gap insurance (even this was a reel struggle). The only freebie they gave me was a cuddly mini which matched my car. It was a bit dissapointing considering I was paying cash and wasnt trading in my old mini (I got 500 pound more buy selling it back to the used car company where I got it from). |
