Tires & Alignment: General Observations

I swear every car I have ever purchased has had issues with tires and alighnment...my mini S is falling right in line with that.

Anybody have issues with their mini or in general with cars alighnment and tires. Car manufacturers literally ignore this very important issue every time because they just know they are going to say "Oh, thats not covered under warranty".

My mini S has barely 80 miles on it and I get a flat tire flash and now notice that one of my right rear tires won't hold air for more than 2-3 days.

Ok, I've decided:

Tires come with a separate warranty

Have you had your tires checked?

Keep in mind that the tires come with a separate warranty from the tire manufacturer and thus you can enforce it with the tire maker directly, without MINI's involvement.

However, there could be potential for tire related issues to be caused by the car's suspension. Make sure to have your suspension checked by your dealer and if everything checks out OK, then your problems could strictly be related to defective tires.

Do you have the runflats?

Yes, I have the runflats... I have this problem with 3 out of the last 4 new cars. In fact, I typically see this exact same problem with about 1 out of every 4 "new" tires I buy from anyone/any company. That is the tires don't get "seated" correctly on the rims and they leak. Well all tires leak to some degree but they leak "excessively" I guess you would say. The tires guys have some "goop" they put on the rims and they ups the percentage dramatically that the tires will seat correctly. However, it makes a mess when you go to change the tires as you have to scrape that stuff off. And, then the leaks go up even worse if you don't use the goop next time.

Tires with 80 miles on them should not be leaking....warranty my !#$!!%!. Well unless they have a nail sticking out the side.

I picked up a nail on the first day as I drove through a subdivision that was under construction. Was losing about 5lb of pressure every day until I got it fixed. Try squirting a detergent/water mix onto the tyre to spot where the leak is.
