MINI windscreen a bug magnet?

One thing I've noticed since getting my MINI, compared with previous cars the windscreen is an absolute bug magnet on motorways, covered in splattered bugs in no time.

I wonder whether this is because it's so upright, previous cars screens being more raked maybe more bugs were swept over.

Going to need to up the dose of screenwash I think...

I like 'em big...

Yes it really is a bug magnet but only on motorways. Must be because of the angle of the windscreen.

So the windscreen loves bugs, and the rear window sucks up the spray from the rear wheels. Why do we do this to ourselves . No wonder I wash my car up to 3 times in a week!

Dont get me started on the bug splats!

Coming back from Snetterton last weekend it looked like i'd killed half the population on the front of the car Worst still it started raining so I had to wash the windscreen which in turn spread out the bug splats and made it a whole lot worse

Its my first spring with my MINI and haven't had the privaledge of the bug splats...until yesterday, I can't believe how bad it is for them! I'll have to get some of those bug wipes to keep in the car for removing insect corpses!

A pair of old tights is very good for cleaning bugs off the windscreen. It was a tip I got from someone who used to work on the Queens Flight in the RAF. They used them to clean the aircraft. Works a treat with a bucket of water and a few drops of vinegar. I think I meet most of the suicidal insects of East Anglia on my travels.

Just got back from a weekend in west wales and the windscreen of our mini was absolutly plastered in bug splats, so it was straight out with the bucket and sponge as soon as i got home before the sun baked em on good and hard.

Too late for me - the run back was glorious, so I've spent I don't know how long this evening chiselling the little sods off...

700 mile roundtrip to the nuburgrin this weekend, temps up at 25 c in germany and the flies took a beating. I honestly could see very little after 300 ,miles there, luckily german and euro petrol stations still leave squeegies and watr buckets on their forecourts to use for this crap. never get that in the UK

My windscreen is a pollen collector. After a day's driving you can wipe it off and mold it like dough.
