Offline | Hello All! I have an 'S' on order, actually 'scheduled for production' Trouble is that my dealer didn't specifiy the interior door panels I requested [Magnesium] so they show black! Quite a difference! The dealer is trying to tell me that all 'S' door panels are black, and that's that. Mini assitance says it is a stand alone option, but that it may be too late to make a change. Is there anything I can do to get this problem resolved? I have been waiting since August, and figured to take delivery in November, if I have to re-order I will be back another 3 months! Arghhhh! Thanks for any assitance you can offer! JCIP |

Offline | Thanks for the reply. I was hoping someone could confirm if the Magnesium panels are an available option. I am trying to get my dealer to respond, but my motoring advisor is on vacation, and so far no one has been of any help. My 'S' is supposed to be scheduled for production, possibly in production, and I would very much like to get the Magnesium panels before its too late! If it can be confirmed that the motoring advisor made a mistake, maybe I can still get the panels I want. The dealer's attitude seems to be its too late, and that all 'S' models have black door panels if ordered with the space cloth (which I did). |

Offline | If it's any consolation. I got the black door panels and they look fantastic. My dealer had mentioned that quite a few MINI owners who got the magnesium panels were disappointed. I hope you get what you want, but maybe you'll find the black aren't so bad. Good luck. Missing my buddies Dan and Ed but glad I have two angel buddies , And on a quest to Right Secco's Wrongs |

Offline | Thanks for your reply CCMini, it's just that I am in Hawaii, and with the sun-roof, I am doing everything I can to keep the interior 'light'. My first choice would be a black S with white top, but I have already forgone that in favor of Liquid Yellow. With the roof, black interior panels will heat up considerably, and put more demand on the A/C. I just had the roof of my Chrysler van painted white (after the factory silver paint came off!) and it cooled that car considerably. I will probably increase the tint on the roof, but a lighter interior will be brighter then too, so that's what I really would like. |

| MINI2 Senior | Re: HELP Please! Well, you know that the black doors have the gray magnesium look to them (that the dash has) as well. As I remember it was that or grey. So maybe your dealer is right? I know I was confused about this...but I believe everyone gets the plastic magnesium space shuttle look... Ok, I've decided: My Car Aimee: Mini "S", Pure Silver/B, Premium (A/C and sun roof), DSC, Fog, and Heated seats. (Why? 'cause I can't wait a year) |

Offline | Here is a picture of what I understand to be a Magnesium door panel. Mini assitance also is telling me that the Alloy Patina will be dropped on '03 models, and will be silver (so I miss out on that one too!)The other shot shows a black door panel at the far side for comparison. Thanks, JCIP |

Offline | I can understnd your need to go "light" in Hawaii. And let me assure you, it gets HOT with the sunroof. Thank the MINI gods my A/C runs incredibly well. The screens do very little good when the sun is over head. Also, I hate wearing hats but may consider it because of the sunlight in the eyes. I'm hoping one of the after market companies comes up with a solid clip on cover for the interior of the sun roof. MINI should make those silly screens a solid material. | MINI2 Regular | I Saw It.. Any time before you go status 150 you can modify your order, If you REALLY want the Mag door panels, make the dealer change the order, THAT SAID,,, Read on,,, I saw the Magnisium at my dealer, and I don't like it!! It looks like plain smooth plastic that someone forgot to paint. If your fingers are not clean, or you forgot to wear your white gloves, every smudge shows up. Sorry, now everyone that Loves the Mag door panels can give me krap......... BTW, the panels in the back seat area are standard black even when the fronts are Mag color. The Mag color is the same as the interior of the pillars at the sides of the windscreen on my standard Cooper. (same smooth texture too). I live in 90+degree Florida, have a dark interior, black roof & sunroof, and the AC does fine, but I have Comfort Opening, and I know how to use it....... (Oh, I have a brother & 2 sisters that live in Hawaii because they claim it's too darn hot to live in Florida). 2004 Pepper White Copoper S on order :white: 2002 Pepper White/Black Cooper, 9800 miles :white: 1972 Gunmetal Innocenti Cooper 1300, miles unknown Last edited by BigMack : Sep 23rd, 2002 at 09:21 PM. |

Offline | Thanks for your input BigMack, anyone who is keeping cool in Florida is knowledgeable. For myself, I would much prefer the door panels to match the other interior elements, especially the headliner/A/B/C pillars. I am not as concerned about the back or boot, but I find that I like having a brighter interior, makes it easier to find things faster. I have lived with the yellow/black interior color combo twice before, and while I like the look, I find gray more practical for everyday use. Same for those interior panels, if you are out of the car for 15 minutes and it's parked in the sun, you are going to feel it on any bodypart not protected, so cloth and light colors are prudent. | MINI2 Regular | To Open Comfortably A proper MINI dealer can program the remote key to open the windows and sunroof upon pressing & holding the unlock button the second time. By the time you finish chatting with bystanders admiring your car, and get in, it has allowed all the hot air to escape. No problems with AC cooling it down in a couple minutes. Do a search on Comfort Opening for several threads. Some dealers can't seem to do it, (they need training). Good luck getting your order changed, or just wait & someone will trade you that gets the Mag panels & doesn't want them. 2004 Pepper White Copoper S on order :white: 2002 Pepper White/Black Cooper, 9800 miles :white: 1972 Gunmetal Innocenti Cooper 1300, miles unknown |
