They're working for me.

Can't believe the small amount of damage on the MINI compared to the truck.

Agreed, if any one had been injured, I would not have posted the link.

However, those jacked up trucks are a pain in the Boot!

United-Kingdom A stupid police officer!

It's quite outrageous that the Mini drive got a ticket for changing lane...what are you supposed to do to avoid being hit? The officer should learn some common sense.

I don't think the police would react like that here in the UK (would they)?

Amazing how little damage the MINI suffered, glad nobody was badly hurt.

Wow - scary. I drive a truck very similar to that one when I'm over in the States... although the one I use is an F350 (bigger) rather than an F250. I'll have to keep an even sharper look out for MINIs next time I'm over there...

The officer did advise the MINI driver that he should contest the ticket in court and that the officer would testify in the MINI driver's defence. It sounds like a ticket is standard operating procedure in an event like that - the officer had no wiggle room for discretion.

All the best,
Andrew.

when i bought my MINI, the dealer had a picture of a head-on collision of a MINI with a Ford F150.

seeing how the MINI was intact and the cab of the Ford pickup was caved in, i suspect the Ford truck dealer didn't go showing around the same set of pictures.

bill and neuro -- those are the sorts of tickets that you get and are then thrown out when they come to court. i've had one before & it was thrown out. essentially, you show up with a lawyer, and everyone sees you're an upstanding citizen and conscientious, and they let you off. the ticket's for the lane change, which isn't even a serious sort of ticket, anyway.

The ticket is to support the insurance claim for the truck. His wreck was directly caused by the MINI changing lanes. Had a friend who was stopped at a traffic light and was rear ended. The guy who hit him was going fast enough to push my friend's car into the back of the car in front of him. My friend was given a ticket for following too close to support the insurance claim of the guy he was pushed into. My friend's insurance had to pay to fix that car, then claim against the other car to pay for both crashes. Crazy rules in Virginia.
