Offline | What's your view on this deal ? Ok, this is the deal: I can a set of NEW 17" S Spokes including the dunlop tyres for my Cooper and trade in my 16" 5 star wheels. (with 12500 mile on them) For 560 pounds. So I can go for the looks, or stay with better handling, right ? True or false ?? |

Offline | Re: What's your view on this deal ? Hi Eric, Pardon me if I am slow to get your point -- which of the two wheel types do you think give better handling, and which do you think look better? I ask this, because both the looks and the handling are subjective; different people have different views on what's "best". I have the 16" 5 Star wheels on my Cooper, and I found that when test driving MINIs with 17" 8 Spoke wheels, that the 17" wheels offered better turn-in. I think the 17s wheels give a more bumpy ride, while the 16s are probably a bit more comfortable to drive on. Personally, I think the 17s look great and I prefer the way they feel to drive on, but as I said before, people's opinions vary. What colour is your MINI? What colour are your existing wheels? what colour wheels whould you buy IF you upgraded to 17s? |

Offline | Thanks for the reply ! There's been a few discussions on the 16" and 17" wheels and the 16" wheels were prefered by a lot of people for a bit more responsive handling. Better feedback. On looks it's a matter of opinion ofcourse. I like them both very much, so it's a difficult choice. On the money side though, I get new tyres, my 16" ones are half gone now. I'm not sure what a new set of 17" S spokes with dunlop tyres would cost normally, but I think about twice as much as I have to pay so that means I get a fair bit back for my 16" 5 stars. Or not ? Anyway, this is my Cooper now : |
