Talking Love 'Em

So to cut a long story short my gearbox (on my ONE) started to click really loudly after only 30,000 miles. Went to Mini and they said ah sorry but you've had your car almost 4 years, gearbox warranty ran out after just 2, that'll be £2100 please!

I was pretty damn irritated, so irritated i couldn't even begin to rant about it on Mini2! So i phoned around and found that i could get a reconditioned gearbox for between 750-850 quid! All i needed was to wait for my mate to be able to take me n pick me up from Telford. 1 day before i was to take it, the casing cracked and leaked metallic fluid everywhere, AA man said he had never seen it before and towed me to Sytner Mini in Coventry on Sunday.

Now I bought my car new from Robert Stern BMW in september '04, in June '05 i got my gearbox replaced because of a factory fault. I mentioned this as well as the fact my family has bought 2 other mini's from them and a fair few beemers. I said maybe as a goodwill gesture they could reduce the cost of the parts of labour.

Super helpful guy named charlie put a request in........now the good news.......

100% free parts
80% free labour

So have gone from £2100 to about £145, and all official Mini stuff.....so chuffed i had to write about it... Also everyone should give this a shot!!!!!

Ian

Did you thrash the gearbox to get it to fail so quickly?

Fantastic news Congratulations

Is yours one of the last of the pre-facelifts or an early facelifted model? I thought the facelifted model had a much stronger box over the older Midland one

Well my first one was just a factory fault but the second was has been driven pretty hard....and about a year ago my mum really tried to put it into reverse at 70mph....thats wher her sixth gear is...dont think that helped too much!! i mean ive taken pretty good care of it, i havent been seeing whats its like to change gear without the clutch or anything!!!!

thanks, wel chuffed, was one of the very first face-lifts, yeah thats why they were perfectly fine with replacing it the first time beacuse they had made an error when putting it together!!!
