Parking your MINI

I got a new car...and I don't want door dings...

Is there a reason why even if you park your car 2 miles away in the most solitary place you can find in a store parking area that somebody will suddenly find a need to park their 20 year old hunk of junk there?

This is why I'm FOR the death penalty.

Ok, I've decided:
My Car Aimee: Mini "S", Pure Silver/B, Premium (A/C and sun roof), DSC, Fog, and Heated seats. (Why? 'cause I can't wait a year)

Its called jealousy ... they are hoping your cars good looks will rub off on theirs and that your car will look like theirs soon so they wont be jealous

I think it's because the owner of the junker fails to look at their car objectively:

"Yeah, my Yugo still looks good! Don't want no door dings, so I'll park it over by that other new car, even ifn I have to walk some."

Thumbs up

I am not sure but I think the death penalty is too good for them. It should be more painful. Maybe some form of torture and then send them to a deserted island

Depending on what hunk of junk they're driving, they may be undergoing torture already...and this torture may have been going on for years! I'm sure that clouds their judgement somewhat.

Absolutely the worst, however, is shopping carts, and the people who launch them in the general direction of the corral without making sure the cart actually makes it in or not.

Actually, they are parking next to your nice new beautiful baby so that if someone were out to steal a car they would choose yours rather than thiers

You have a good point there!! I have done exactly that with my Neon when parking in questionable areas, though I never park RIGHT next to somebody if I can help it.

I was thinking what might help are some inflatible MINI's you could place on either side of you when you parked, to keep people at distance from the real MINI. And the best part is when the uncaring person parking next to the inflatible car swung the door open wide, it would bounce right back and give them a good knock!!

Don't be so harsh could be that they are future Mini owners who are currently short an cash.

When I was studying, I had an old heap (couldn't afford anything else). But I cared for it almost like I do with the Mini. I would often park it next to the nicer cars thinking the owners of nice new cars are less likely to give my trusty old motor a door ding.

Perhaps they are all like I was ....... yeah OK, maybe I should take a reality check.

I've got a ding...

It's on my drivers door, and I didn't bloody do it!

I also get sooooooooooo paranoid about scratching my wheels!

What's worse is when someone double parks. How f*cking annoying is that?

I actually dove for a cart headed toward a car in the parking lot last week...jammed my finger in the process, but I'm hoping for some good karma!

Well, that's the case with the '86 Buick Century I'm driving at the moment. Or not driving, actually, as it's been in and out of the shop pretty regularly since late July.

Funny thing about those cars--they all have the exact same rust spots.

Like that Volkswagen Jetta commercial. (I'm not sure if it was shown in the U.S. market as well, or just Canada).

Enjoying every second of my S!
(Just wish the fuel economy would hurry up and improve..)

Volkswagen ad

Ya it was shown in the US. All my friends accused me of being the person in the commercial. They all drive beaters and I'm the only one with nice cars. So they find it VERY odd of me to park in Timbuk-2 while they take the spots up front next to the cart corral.
