I definatly wouldn't buy one - Its for mum - But that means I could be without a MINI for a year - Not doing that again

She's driving some at the weekend I think - Not sure what engines - Too angry too ask

What was the spec of the A3 convertible your parents looked at?

A3 1.9TDI Sport Cabrio(sllooowww but cheap as to run and pretty torquey )

Met Black
Black Sports Seats
Heated Seats
Business Sat Nav (or whatever its called)
and a couple of other bits, can't remember off of the top of my head. It looks alright, and has a pretty decent spec

It was a cancelled order, so its just sat in the showroom. I think mum and dad would like a bit more kit on it TBH, but the price then escalates

Sounds a nice car, i wouldnt worry about not having a MINI for a year - youll survive, and itll make you work harder to get a MINI.

Now i drive, i really dont care like i used to about my parents cars.

Weird that - I thought I'd be the same, but I'm not And the fact that I could go on the R56 insurance when I get one years NCB It's still not a cert the MINI is going, but it looks pretty set in stone that something will happen

Well if they do go down the A3 route make sure they spec the S Line so they can get the Bling DRL's...kerching! ( the DRL's are only on the S Line btw )

Yer Mum loves those - The S Line though doesn't have as much desirable kit as the Sport, (proper soundproofing in the roof, nicer wheels, etc) and it costs a fair bit more.

The Sport has DLR's, just halogen ones that don't look quite as good - And on the S Line, its only an option in conjunction with Xenons - A £500 odd option IIRC...

This is my first post.....ever....and I don't even OWN a mini yet..but I want to..I have test driven 3..l I like the Cooper S 2008...I search the internet for OWNER reviews and I want to get a GOOD assessment of the car before I sign on the dotted line cause it's a chunk of change to be sure..MY BIGGEST fear after reading all the internet BLOG is that I am going to end up with a car that spends more time in the shop then with me IN IT..so I need lots of feed back..and be honest..is buying this car a mechanical NIGHTMARE??? And please..I know it's a cool car, a fun car, an awesome car....just the mechanical "facts" please....

Hey, if you're not paying for the car, let the folks get what makes them happy (they're going to anyhoo). When you've got cash flow, get yourself something zippy.

I actually dig the Audi, very much, and this is coming from someone who is currently on her 3rd MINI.
