Straight veg oil also works particularly well in e36 turbo diesels

If only I had an e36 turbo diesel.............

Gets me to and from work at decent times and is almost door to door, so I can read the paper or use the Ipod on the way.
Now I currently do about 30 miles each day to work and back which is about a gallon of petrol if I drive sensibly, so I reckon about £30 a week on fuel + the wear and tear on the car means I'm spending around £150 a month using the GP.
I've decided to try the bus for a few weeks and see how it goes and save about £80 a month into the bargain.

I can see the GP getting well used at weekends , and I'll be able to drive it a bit harder with all the money I'm saving.

Good on yah Stu

Yes I can save money catching a bus to work too or by shopping at my local shops, BUT I don't because I'm lazy. I own a car because I'm LAZY.

We have all become accustomed to a certain lifestyle, but to maintain that lifestyle at specific economic times somethings gotta give.
For a long time it's been house prices, but now it's fuel prices.
Life isn't a walk in the park, one thing people need to realise is the instant gratification days are now over and hopefully will never return.

Get over it, fuel prices have gone up.... ADAPT!

Future cars will have solar panels on their roof's (rooves?) which will heat water in steam engined vehicles.

And I predict that such vehicles will not fly silently between the skyscrapers as depicted in that advertisement.

is it ironic that there is now a banner ad under this postings from Never Wax Your Car Again! - 5 Star Shine giving you double the MPG !! That would have to make your motor run lean, and lead to eventual piston melt down, Can;t think how else you can make a motor use less fuel

Good sensible comments from most people, but the above really is nail on the head for what we can do at the moment.

I said to my girlfriend last night that as I'm paying £3 extra a tank of fuel (not too much for me), then I'll just not buy a CD each month, or have one less drink on a night out, etc, etc...

The scary thing is, is that I know that petrol prices are going to start pushing people quite hard... with rising council tax, road tax, electricity, gas and food prices, people will start buying less and less luxury goods.

This will mean an even faster economic slow down; as we are so addicted to oil (not our fault - the government needs to make steps to address this), we do not have any real viable alternative.

Labour should give the UK people a break - charge fuel on the size of engine... a 2.8l V6 will surely then think twice about tearing round so much, whereas a 1.2 will sip fuel. Charge heavy tax on 'luxury/non-essentials' such as wine, beer, spirits, cigarettes, ice cream. We don't need these to get to work, to survive and to earn money.

I work 20 miles away from my office, and I can assure all you MINI2ers that there is not a single way that I can get to work via public transport in a quick, cost-effective manner. In fact, doing it in an expensive way is an ache...

Our taxes and cost of living (as such, the money brought in from VAT to the Government's coffers goes up!), and we are not getting a break.... Free prescriptions for the Welsh, free University for Scotland...

Come on Labour... help your people.

No chance they have not the slightest idea how. They are adrift in the Doldrums, and they will never gain control during their remaining time in office.

Have to drive to work. No train station, and the first bus arrives at 10:30. And I don't fancy cycling 25 miles

yes but oil needs to be added or mixed with diesel- best on non turbo diesel-it is tax evasion though

I like to think of it as being inventive not evasive. What sort of ratio Diesel to heating oil mix? , just for the science side of it of course
