Question Anyone going to Le Mans 2008

Is anyone going to Le Mans this year. I am going for the Third year running, taking the Minarge this year as it will be ready by the end of the week. Should be awesome. There are 8 of us in convoy and we are meeting a further 20 there.

Whoop whoop 11 days to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

we're proper specced up this year, theres 20 of us going on the wednesday night, some of the bikes are coming on the thursday and then theres a few stragglers on the friday. We have got generators for fridges lights the lot. One of the guys who's an electrician has managed to make a heated power shower which will be using instead of the crap showers on site. Fingers crossed the weather is kinder than last year. Still can't forget 2005 with the 40 degree temps, that was madness.

beausejour is the maddest camp site.

Here's just a sample of some of the mad stuff going on last year on the Sunday night, it was a night you did'nt go to sleep in the tent just in case someone came on through.

Boy was it wet at Le Mans over the weekend

I hope it will be better for the race week as I will be working there from the Wednesday. Unfortunately no opportunity to take either Mini so it will be Mondeo power for me again!

I didn't realise it was so soon.

I've never been before and the Beausejour campsite still has availability... what do people do for food once they're there etc and is the campsite close to the action?

Total newbie to Le Mans so hope I don't sound too numb!

You may be able to get tickets but ferries will be tight now to book, As long as you turn up to Beausjour by the thursday night you will get a space. Its about 40 mins walk from the track are as far as grandstands etc. But as you are camped inside the circuit, its about 5 mins walk up to porsche curves, and a little further from mulsane. Food, take it with you, if going for a few days i would take a stove and gas as after the first day the novelty of bbq'd Burgers and beer for breakfast wears off and all you really want is cup of tea and a nice fried egg sandwich. there are shops near by too, but i try not to drive anywhere once camped up as there are quite a few idiots.

Be sensible too as with nearly 250,000 brits going there tends to be quite a few idiots about. The glory years from the late 90's are gone. I also know that last year there were quite a few cars being broken into, so makeure you keep keys on you at all times and don't get so drunk you end up geting nicked, Oh and makesure you prepare for the worst as it may be hot it may be bloody cold and wet, thats the gamble.

I've looked in to ferry prices with Norfolkline which seems to have a lot of availabilty for the Friday to Monday. I was going to book the campsite online and would only be able to go Friday to Monday really... I'm guessing you're guaranteed a spot if you book online first?

I didn't realise so many brits go! Thinking I need more time to plan all this and might be better off going in 2009. Hmmm.

Quite a few of the New MINI Severns are going down in convoy. There's a thread about it on our site.
