407.9 miles on one tank of fuel...

....in a standard JCW MCS!!

Yeah baby!!

I've been trying to reach 400 miles for several months now and tonight after work, I went on a little motorway jaunt and I finally reached it!

And then had to crawl very carefully to the nearest petrol station! But Im just so happy!!

Wow thats magic mate, what is your mini R53 or R56 , did you keep it below any revs, what was your average speed on the tank of fuel.

Neil.

Its an R53 which means thats absolutely amazing (even if I do say so myself!) Its got the 210 kit on it with no extra mods.

Don't know what my average speed was, but my commute consisted of some motorways, 60s, 40s and 30s in towns, so its a good mixture I suppose. Could have got a lot more if it was all motorway!

I was doing 70mph with cruise control on the motorway to help and nearer the end of the tank I was doing about 60 just so I can manage getting the 400...but it was touch and go!!

Well based on a 10gallon tank, 400 miles is only 40mpg - even in a supercharged S this is easily achieveable if you are driving economically

I get tempted to open mine up and let it scream to often though

Well with most S owners barely getting into 30s, I think its dang impressive!

But now I have achieved it, I can finally get back to doing 70 on the motorway!

Deffo very impressive, have you had a recent service at all?

Well its been hard not hearing that lovely whine and the popping...but it's all been worth it! Hehe!

And I got the majority of the miles on about a 10 mile flatish bit of the M27.

And regarding the vapours...Well I planned it JUST right to get to the Petrol Station last night and I was at one point down to 5 miles left on the range display on the trip computer, so that was bleeding scary when I was about 6 miles away from the station! But I got there! Phew!

Goodness!

Gotta say i am impressed!! Nice one - And that's from a Dooper owner!

Mine is on 47.7 mpg at the mo Yes not incredibly high for a Cooper D. Think I need to challenge myself to seriously improve that!! Just haven't got the patience sometimes though if you know what I mean?

Well with fuel prices as they are and having to fill up with 99RON, I gotta be economical now rather than speedy....When I started driving 4 years ago, it was only 65p a litre!
