| MINI2 Newbie | Hiya! I am have had my MCS for a month now and i am really confused with all these Rcodes i have seen mentioned on various pages. R53 R56 R50???? I am guessing they are model codes of some description but what they relate to i am unsure. My car is a 52reg MCS what Rcode would mine be? Hope someone can help Si |

Offline | You may also be interested to know most BMW model codes start with an E................the early New MINI project was known as the E50 at BMW until they handed over full responsibility to Rover to complete the design in May 1996, at this point it became known as the R50 (R standing for Rover Group). |

Online | As posts above, but in short: R50 = 1st gen ONE, Cooper, OneD R52 = 1st gen ONE, Cooper, & Cooper S Convertibles R53 = 1st gen Cooper S hatch only (inc GP) R55 = MINI Clubman (all derivatives) R56 = MINI 2nd Gen Hatch (all derivatives) R57 = Forthcoming MINI Convertible ![]() |
