Did you have to specify ISOFIX when you ordered the car?

Kinster, did you bother asking BMW/Mini if they intended testing the Britax with their cars?

Don't think it can be added later. It involves welding 2 U-shaped brackets below the rear seat base and you also need a different base with plastic access points.

mikey,

BMW/MINI would be committing commercial suicide if they approved the Britax Duo Isofix seat. The Britax name is better known and more readily available than their own seat. That's probably why they won't test it.

I can see any reason why the Britax seat won't win approval for the MINI if it were tested.

I'll maybe call MINI serivce and ask them to be sure. If you can't then it's another 'pro' in the 'upgrade to a Cooper S' debate we're having at home!

Arrrhh you're having that debate. My wife and I had that debate. We've got a BMW with Isofix so I used that argument to replace my non-isofix Audi with a MCS with ISOFIX.

BMW should approve the Britax as other manufacturers have eg Audi/VW and they have their own ISOFIX seats.

No, but I did ring Britax. They said that BMW haven't tested it yet. You can also use the Britax DUO ISOFIX as a standard seat with the seat belts as well.

So far so good. You can also use the seat belt for double protection

BMW Isofix Seat

I purchased the BMW car seat with ISOFIX after having spoken to Britax, saying they did not approve their seat for fitment in the MINI.

The BMW seat was £260 (identical to MINI seat but different colour), but extends in height, and then turns into a booster seat. Seat is fantastic, is rock solid in the car, and will last until my kids are aged 8-9.

I tried the BMW/MINI yellow/grey seat before I purchased the Britax. I'll say that the Britax is a lot more solid and doesn't look as tacky. Also £100 less
