Offline | Anyone else notice that BMW has crept into the Owners Lounge? In the upper left pull down window was - your focus is "2003 Cooper" now it says "2003 BMW Cooper". If I open the "your MINI" page there is a picture of a BMW grill complete with Roundel as well as big BMW letters above the MINI hood picture. What's up with this? I thought BMW was trying to keep its name distant from MINI. Is this a change in position from BMW? Hank195 |

Offline | Re: BMW in the Owners Lounge? None of that (any BMW references) appears when I logged into the Owners' Lounge just now. Perhaps what you saw was a temporary glitch? The MINI Owners' Lounge software is based upon the preexisting BMW Owners' Circle software, so it seems there are a lot of similarities (I've never seen the Owners' Circle software, but I spoke to someone who has used it concerning the features and understand they are very much the same). + 2002 MINI Cooper S - Dark Silver / White roof, Sport, Premium, Lapis blue leather + 1965 Mini Traveller - Tartan Red / White roof, 1275, Cooper S discs, fully restored/renewed |

Offline | Re: 2003 BMW Cooper S Well, in the Owners' Lounge my car still reads as "2002 MINI Cooper S", so perhaps it is only the 2003 models that are being shown as BMWs? + 2002 MINI Cooper S - Dark Silver / White roof, Sport, Premium, Lapis blue leather + 1965 Mini Traveller - Tartan Red / White roof, 1275, Cooper S discs, fully restored/renewed |

Offline | I noticed the lounge was down tonight so maybe they are having technical problems. In any case I'm not sure this is a good time for BMW to be pushing their connection with the MINI here in America. I just read an newspaper article in which the German Federation of Industry said they are experiencing a bit of a backlash against German products, contracts, etc, in the United States, because of the perceived anti-American tone of Chancellor Schroeder's reelection campaign. It probably will fade away pretty quickly I suspect, but still maybe not the time to be raising the MINI's German profile. On the other hand the story speculated there might also be a surge in the popularity of British goods (keep in mind this was a British paper) given Blair's supportive stance on Iraq. |

Offline | M3 Trade I had a 1998 M3, and, although it was faster in a straight line, the MINI is more fun to drive overall. Not to mention some US$20K+ cheaper! Offline | BMW MINI I didn't buy a MINI because I wanted a BMW. It is nice to know papa has deep pockets and helped to hi tech the little beast but I was never drawn to BMW product. I have admired the reports of performance excellence though. It's only the MINI I like. Ess |

Offline | I received my production number on Friday, 27 September. When I tried to register with the MINI owner's lounge, I was denied access and was re-directed to the BMW owner's circle. I registered there, and my order is shown as a 2003 BMW Cooper. Kind of like getting bumped up from coach to first class. The only thing is that now in order to track my car, I have to go through the BMW site. |

Offline | That's been an ongoing situation for quite some time. The BMW and MINI call centers share personnel apparently. + 2002 MINI Cooper S - Dark Silver / White roof, Sport, Premium, Lapis blue leather + 1965 Mini Traveller - Tartan Red / White roof, 1275, Cooper S discs, fully restored/renewed |

Offline | All last week the Owners Lounge had my focus as "2003 BMW Cooper". When I checked today it had changed (back) to "2003 MINI Cooper". Also the picture of the BMW grill was gone from the My MINI section and replaced by a picture of a DS/W MINI. I guess things are back to normal, maybe just a mix-up between the two sites with "common programming" features. The other change in the OL for me this week is that it now shows my MINI status as at the dealer! Called MINI of Fairfield and have scheduled a Friday pickup...the waiting maybe almost over.Hank195 |

Offline | RE: BMW in the Owners Lounge? I'm with MINI Division. Oops, you caught us! BMW isn't "creeping" into the Owner's Lounge, honest. This was purely an internal data error made when we were updating the 2003 model year information. All responsible parties have been thrashed, and if you check, you'll see it has been corrected. If you spot something else we should know about, or if you ever need our assistance, you can call us at (866) ASK MINI. MINI Division Customer Relations |
