| MINI2 Regular | Hi W44NE G, only £40 for a tank? I guess this is not a full tank?? That is pretty dam good fuel consumption for a car! You enjoying the CooperD? |

![]() Man about the house | I go by miles per £££ and at the moment I'm getting just over 10 miles per £1 of diesel. I do this because my computer insists on telling me I have 0 miles left and yet when I fill up, I can only get 33 or 34 litres in. The best I've done before all the lights go out on the fuel gauge is 480 miles. It cost me £45 to fill it back up again, hence the miles per £££ ![]() EDIT: Incidentally, that rate is better than I was getting in my Fiesta Zetec way back in 1999/2000 D-lite-full |

Offline | My record so far in R56 MCS is 430 miles. However this included some town driving, some motorway congestion and where possible 70-75mph. I do believe the current MCS can crack 500 miles bearing in mind it does have a 50 litre tank. Hickster I find that if my computer says 0 miles left, I have about a litre to go (probably about 7 miles or so). ![]() |

| MINI2 Regular | Hi it was on 2x red lights when I got to the petrol station and took £37 until the pump clicked off. I absolutely love this car. I'm 25 and it's my 18th car... it's the first in a while that I've had for more than 6 months. I usually get rid due to boredom but I'm holding on to this one for a long while yet ![]() |

Offline | I've got 680 out of my One D. Admittedly I do mostly motorway driving and stay at 60 in cruise but have to say that with the price of fuel these days I can only say I'm glad I want for the diesel. I have had the trip read at 723 miles on occasion but don't think I get anywhere near that... There are a few really easy ways to get most out of your tank, which have been published everywhere but the key ones (in my experience) are: Change gear before revs get too high (turbo kicks in at 2000rpm on my One D) Leave air con off (even if it means sweating like a pregnant nun!) Keep windows up - you'd be surprised how much extra drag is caused by even slightly open windows When approaching hills, the secret is to get enough speed BEFORE starting the incline, then ease off the throttle as you climb. Happy driving! |
