Dionne Griffin - quite clearly says it on the video.
Funny, but if you click the link in the first thread, the video directly to the left of it is a biker jailed for doing 130mph. So the comment about bikes isn't really relevant.
For me to totally lambast him for doing 130 on a country road would be unfair - there are times when it may be illegal, but safe to do it. However, it's self-evident from that video that it really wasn't safe driving - the near miss with the van highlights that other road users aren't expecting someone to be travelling more than twice the speed limit, so when they're judging your closing speed, they're liable to get it wrong.
Just be thankful that the drive did get caught and no one was hurt.

The thing is, the top speed of 130-135mph is more to do with the brick-like aerodynamics of the MINI rather than the power isn't it? You'd probably have to lower your drag coefficient to go faster. From reading the hype the GP will hit 146mph (has anyone tried?) due to its better drag coefficient.
Although with a GTT260 you'd probably hit 130mph before the GP.
what an idiot.
if this had been on a motorway at 1am id still have said he was daft, but lets be honest most people on here will have been over 100 on a quiet motorway.
its just that hes on a country road passing and going into filter lanes for the opposite direction.
he surley must not care about his car to be doing speeds like this on those roads.
however being 18 and picking my cooper up tommorow, i do think that every young driver gets tared with the same brush.
as i have said before i used to have a 106 rallye with a close ratio box which pushed 140 plus bhp.
it was quicker than a cooper s in a straight line 15.1 @92.5mph (courtesy of santa pod) and i only ever pushed it on the odd track day i have been on.
there is no excuse for driving like this now with the amount of cars on the road and the fact that trackdays are cheap.
take his car off him and give it a good home.
Your having a laugh surly! That speed on a country road smacks of the brainless brigade, As I said in my original post its got nothing to do with what age, just being an idiot period but because of his like that’s why you young drivers are paying mega insurance premiums.
He hits a patch of oil kills both himself and his girlfriend its chalked off as young driver with inexperience in a car that he plainly should not be driving so anyone else that age and class of car are branded high risks…………
Everyone in there day has been over the speed limit but not at this sort of speed on roads like that. He looks like he knows nothing about driving and pulled it off by blind luck. As I said just be thankful Mrs smith with the three kids in the people carrier were not coming round that blind corner on the other side!
ant only 135 mph? 260bhp? i heard recently that a GP did 156mph on a autobahn...:eek but it is silly driving at them speeds on that type of road and i don't think he will do 8 months he will do 5 month's but if he stabbed someone he would be on a suspended sentence .. tha law work it out??? and were did he get the money for petrol to do them speeds...
I watched that clip yesterday after I saw about the motorcyclist who was jailed for 15 months for speeding. Going at those speeds on those roads is just plain stupid. If you want to go fast in your car do a track day. You're all going in the same direction and you won't have camper vans emerging from junctions.
