No worries.... I am all for the original engine that they used. It is a beast for a 4 banger.

If you want fuel efficiency go for the R56.... for everything else its got to be the R53

If you want to tune the car further there are LOADS of options for the R53 but the R56 is still in its infancy in that regard, for now.... You could have a modded 240bhp R53 for circa £10k...

We're catching up! Evolve saw 280bhp from a remapped R56 JCW recently.

Very true Will be very interesting to see what power levels can be safely achieved in the coming years...

On a personal level I think the power delivery of the supercharger is better suited to the FWD mini than the turbo - the more linear delivery reduces the inclination to torque steer.... the big 'hit' of the turbo takes a little more getting used to... Having said that though, I do love playing with turbo lag - great fun, even in a diesel

Agree with those that said drive both. I have had a super charge, it was a works but when I came back to getting another mini I decided to go for turbo as even though the super charge whine is great it does get tiresome on longer trips (or maybe that was my old car just whining to much!!).
I found turbo more relaxed drive....... oh dear I am sounding old using words liked relaxed etc the fuel side also made sense and tlc pack which also helped to make my decision for turbo.

But try them both.
