Cool is the new mini smaller inside???

this is dead weird but im positive the 2nd gen mini is bigger inside than the first gen, yet i looked at the dimensions on an old mini booklet and apparently the 1st gen cooper is bigger inside than 2nd gen cooper s??? surely thats not right?

they call me mellow yellow!

No, the R56 is bigger inside. More legroom, more arm room in both the front & back.

Do bear in mind that the increases in interior room are pretty marginal and, in many cases, a bit of an illusion created by removing otherwise useful storage space.

For instance:

1. The removal of the concealed side compartments in the boot so as to include that space within the official volume of the boot! Cheeky one that!

2. The reduction in capacity of the rear side pockets and the glove box.

3. The reduction by 2/3rds in the capacity of the front door pockets.

Tigger.

From being a 13 year old in the back of an R50, to occasionally hoppping into the back of an R56 at 17, the R56 feels/is WAY larger inside

we did two camping trips one in r53 the other in R56

Same stuff was taken on both trips, but with the R53 we had to tie the tent onto the roof, in the R56 we managed to get everything inside

Strangely, we haven't change the R53, yet we get more in every time!

The practice certainly helps

Tigger.

ROFL

It is amazing how much stuff you can get in when you try (in either car)

Daughter is never happy though as she always gets "packed in" - going round a sharp corner something always falls on her - normally pillow or sleeping bag, shoes, camping stove even <g>

Looks like you and I need to have a competition to see who can pack most in their MINI!!

Our weekends away start with a ridiculous amount of stuff in the MINI; the 3 of us, one Border Collie and an outrageous amount of camping gear! It's all part of the fun now

Tigger.
