Probably a very silly question but is all carbon fibre the same pattern? Whether it be JCW Carbon or Carbon 'look' items - obviously these ones are fake but wondered whether they will match real carbon?
carbon fibre that is made by diffirent companies is Diffirent in pattern, each company uses its own weve to determine strength etc
the fake stuff depends on which bit of real carbon they have copied and then how they have copied it but again you will find each manufacturer will look slightly diffirent

Real CF has an almost 3D effect to it as it is woven fabric as opposed to plastic which has various shades in a pattern to make it look like CF. Some Fake CF isn't at all bad but when you see it against real CF you will notice the difference. I used to have Wellstar plastic effect CF mirror covers on before I got the JCW ones and they didn't look too bad at all. But up close there is a difference.
Well all I was think was getting the BMW carbon fibre dash and then there were other bits inside the car which I wanted CF and have seen sellers on ebay selling stick on ones and wondered whether they would look decent or not?
Got the JCW CF dash and downtubes as well as other bits and pieces and would recommend them as they look amazing inside and worth the money. Also seen a couple of the other CF dashes elsewhere and they look quite good as well. Just up to you whether to spend the extra ££'s cause once you start.....
There are at least 20 different patterens of CF. Different patterns are used mostly because of three reasons: one of them is aesthetic point of view, like already "Aid" said to determine strength and the third reason is shape of certain product. Some patterns on a certain shape are just to complicated to work with, and so you choose the right one. That also depends which manufacturing technique you are using.
