i have just got a mini cooper s (52 reg) and its GREAT !!!!
But when your setting off in first gear it makes a noise, like a squeel its fine when your driving and all the other gears are fine. and the bite of the clutch seems fine and quite low,

and dose anybody know whats best to get more BHP and maybe better MPG?

Not too sure on the first question, but I can try to help on the second.

More BHP usually means less MPG, but theres a few members on here running reduced pulleys, iridium spark plugs and an intercooler and getting better MPG with an increase in power too. Smaller pulley, plugs and new belt is around £350-£400, with a GRS intercooler costing around £400 brand new

Possible clutch fault, if no judder no need to worry, let the fault develop.

Hi I have the same like a squeeking/vibration noise! Mine going in to Miini Challenge specialists in Sussex. Dont worry though I dont think its clutch ore gearbox. If you move the wheels from left to right you find it kind of goes away..if this is you too.
I belive we have a small issue with an suspension mount..nothing bad!!
I let you know the outcome on the weekend
