Offline | Boy Howdy... Through some magnificent twist of fate our long wait has been erased. We fell into an orphaned order matching our own (which was 6 to 9 months off into the future). Our MCS was born on August the 22nd, one of the final 02's. It narrowly averted the Longshoremen strike and we took delivery on the last day of September. Build quality seems to be fantastic. Been following MINI2 and the roadfly forums closely and am happy to have nothing negative to report. No car has ever made me feel so happy. Been driving as much as time allows just because. My espousal unit and I took the beast on it's first day-trip today and snapped some pics. For my brother mostly... he's one of the October build group over on roadfly. It may be just another gorgeous dark silver white MCS to everyone else, but to us... it's a new baby in the family, and we love it. The pics are here, from our first glimpse at the dealer, to our 404 mile point: http://www.binkydognose.com/mini/MCS...ere!/index.htm Mike Last edited by binkydognose : Oct 5th, 2002 at 10:49 PM. |

Offline | Congrats, I'm Flying to Salt Lake City next weekend to pick up my Pure Silver MCS, sounds like it may have been on the same boat as your car. Maybe even from the same litter! |

Offline | Thanks, Yep, much motoring to be done! PhoenixMiniS, ours was on the Don Carlos, docking at Port Huemmemmemmmememmeme whatever it's called. From Oxford England to Oxnard California. Best of luck with your delivery. You'll love driving it home! Mike |

Offline | I think I hate you...Oh OK not really. I am a bit jealous though. I have been on the waiting list here in the Valley of the Sunstroke since April 2001, and am still waiting for my car. First I had the dealer lose my info which sent me several places down the list. Then, in May they called me in to place my order, but informed me that several options were suddenly not available. The missing options included my top 2 color choices as well as the mythical Harmon Kardon stereo. For some strange reason I decided that I wanted the car exactly the way I wanted it, so I ended up waiting even longer. To make a long sob story short, my BRG MCS was finally ordered (sans HK stereo), built in Sept. and is at this moment on a ship somewhere along the way to California. Of course with the Longshoremen issue on the West Coast I have no idea when I will see my car now. So...if you have any of that luck left lying around, I want it! Cheers and Happy Motoring! |

Offline | Thanks everyone Wondermonkey, wishing you good luck. Your car will be beautiful. We did end up with a sun roof and leather which we hadn't intended to order ($$), but are very glad to have them now. I had concerns about the greenhouse effect brought on by the sun roof mesh here in Phoenix, now that the temp is below 100 it's working out well. The factory sound is better than I had expected. You'll likely prefer the sound of the motor to the HK system anyway. ![]() Mike |

Offline | Imagine my feelings when my very own brother secured an MCS IDENTICAL TO THE ONE I HAVE ORDERED AT MINI OF STERLING without having to go through the agony of being on a list and tracking production. But I couldn't be jealous. My own gets built 25 October. By mid-November there will be two dark silver/white/black leather interior MCS's in the family--one in Arizona and one in Virginia. We will have the continental USA surrounded. |

Offline | but how will we fare in the summer? I'm about to get my Cooper this weekend. (it's coming from Charleston) It has the sunroof and I was wondering what your impressions are so far. Will we survive the summers or will we have some sort of deflection figured out by then? I'm starting to work on plan B now. (though I wouldn't give up a sunroof for anything.) Congrats on your new motoring status! |
