Road Tax

Have considred buying a Cooper or Cooper S for the past couple of years, but after the petrol price rises changed my ford cougar V6 for a Toyota Aygo. Now back to wanting a Cooper S. Does anyone know if the price of road tax for the S is going to rise next year. Also is the new turbo S a lot more economical than the old one.

The tax on a R53 S is £220 and I think it is rising to £300.

The new R56 S is £120 to tax and it is a big difference

The R53 S, I averaged about 30mpg and on the new R56 I average 40mpg

Hope this helps

Who cares, we bought our 55plate R53 MCS because of the noise and the way it drives! Unless you are doing mega mileage go for whats fun.

The raod tax increases are delayed to 2010 now as well :-D

Actually, at the moment 12 months road tax on a 1st generation Cooper S is £210.00.

In April 2009, this will go up to £215.00.

In April 2010, this will go up to £245.00.

The following link is quite useful: UK Road Tax Prices | Vehicle Car Tax Rates | Car Tax Calculator | Vehicle Excise Duty - Parker's

As Paul said though, the road tax on the 2nd generation Cooper S is much lower.

Yes the turbo is more economical

The turbo is great to drive but so is the superchared car

Both a lot more fun than a Aygo
