My Mini with his big brother

Hi

As I mentioned last week I bought a Cooper for a runaround to save some wear and tear on my other car. After the first week I'm happy with the cooper, but I'm now wondering whether a cooper S would of been better....Maybe I should order one of those....

Have a good weekend...

Sean

Nice pair of cars Sean
Personnally I wouldn't upgrade to the S if I had a porker too as you'll still miss the power of the Porsche even in an S.
In the twisties however the Cooper is just as good as the S when it come to the fun factor and surely that's what it's all about

MINI, RX8 and MX5 - Done those............. It's now TTime

The man has a good taste in cars

Nah, I don't reckon you need the S considering what's parked next to it

WOW!

It seems someone hasd finally done something to the porsche 996 that I thought it sorely needed!

When the 996 came out I thought it needed the red refelctor strip that joins the rear lights from the previous models.

Have you done that yourself or does Porsche offer it as an extra (like it matters to me I can't afford one). It looks superb with that strip across the back. Any other photo's!

Hmmm I love the Porsche GT2's and Turbo's aswell, wonder what they'd look like with it aswell.

It makes the porsche look more classic 911 like to me

LOVE IT!
Just love it!

Oh yeah what ever you do don;t get the S and especially not the John Cooper Works S.

Why?

Because that beutiful porsche never may get driven again And that would be unforgivable!

All cars seem to look that much better without the front licence plate. That 911 in the second pic looks fantastic. Come to think of it your's ain't too bad either Sean

Yeah, if I were you I'd get the S over the Porsche too.

Course if it cost $80 large and then some, I just may stick with the Carrera. But then the S has a bigger sunroof... decisions decisions

Very nice set of cars, Sean. Before opening the thread I was imagining you had an original Mini of some sort since you mentioned "big brother" only to see a beautiful (dare I say better) arctic silver beast beside your MINI. Share more pics of the 4S with us, would ya?

Notice how we are all, (including me), inclined to call it a 911 though.......ahhh, nostalgia........

It is a porsche 911. 911 is the model, 996 is the mark/version. Have to say i always thought the 911 993 was better looking until I saw the 911 996 Turbo and GT2. If I had the money I'd have a GT2 with that rear strip off his Carrera 4S fitted.

Looks the dogs with that added, Much more 911 like!

You know... I always thought they should sell cars in pairs! Like Shoes!

Anyway, REALLY nice set of cars! Rather jealous!

For some vague advice. An s won't ever compare in straight line performance to a porsche, the beauty of the MINI is the curves. So unless you ache for that extra power that's not as good as its big brother, why not take advantage of the chrome and personally "better" looks of the cooper. Its still fun to drive a slow car fast. Though of course ordering one, you'd be able to get it spec'd out exactly like you want, which can be a huge perk.

But let me ad I'm quite jealous of your car choices. Though they do look very happy together.

Magic 8-ball was correct. All be in awe of Magic 8 ball.

Thanks Guys

Thanks for all your coments. The main reason I bought the mini was a commute I do a couple of times a week from Brentwood, Essex to Heathrow, in fual alone I save £25 a week, never mind what the extra milage would do for the value of the Porsche....

I will get some more pictures when both cars are out, and when it stops bloody raining.

It seems like the Cooper S may be a bad upgrade for the Cooper, the MC currently has 11K miles on the clock and I intend on keeping it until 20K miles, maybe I'll just have to buy another one, but to my spec this time.

Anyone know if a Mini Cabrio will ever appear???

Problems I've had with the Mini so far are:-

1) The power steering pump makes a lot of noise, is this normal.

2) The second key (one without the remote button) will open the doors, but won't start the car. ANy ideas???

Cheers

Sean
