When did the start / stop (better MPG) R56 Begin..

Hi All,

just need a quick answer, when did the start / stop, better MPG improvements actually release?

Was it the 07 Plate or 57 or even after a certain production date?

Checked a MINI and it has 164g/km CO2 emissions, does it mean it does not have the better MPG figures?

Car was registered on the 1st May 2007 if that helps (R56 S)

I believe mine was from the first batch .... August 2007 build, 57 plate.

Thanks, other than a tax increase, is it a massive difference in actual MPG (ignoring the usual sales figures)

I can't remember exactly when production started, but you can tell whether the car has it or not by looking for a button just in front of the gear lever with an 'A' on it. If the button isn't there it doesn't have it.

According to the VCA Car Fuel Data Stats, they state:

Pre- 57 Plate:

Fuel Consumption - Imperial [mpg]
Imperial Urban (cold) - 29.1
Imperial Extra Urban - 53.3
Imperial Combined - 40.9

Post 57 Plate:

Imperial Urban (cold) - 35.8
Imperial Extra Urban - 54.3
Imperial Combined - 45.6


Now, it looks quite small really about 5MPG. Theres a big price difference between the 07/57 plates though..

Which one would you go for? Is it worth say another 2k for a same spec model but with stop / start :\
