Question Velcro on the front seat belts???

Maybe I haven't owned the car long enough, but why is there a velcro/felt pad on the inside (near the parking brake) of the front seat belt buckles???

Thanks!

Re: Velcro

My MCS won't be here until sometime in '03, but if it's the loop/soft side of the Velcro, I'd think it's just there to be a padding between the seatbelt and the brake. I've done the same thing on other vehicles to make a pad with an adhesive back. Beats paying the techie's big bucks to come up with someting special ya' know.

Yep, it's to stop the seat belt buckle scratching the handbrake area trim.

My was built before this was introduced and has a few scratches

the MINI has gone...

They are an addition to stop banging/scratching. All press cars had them, and eventually they filtered through to production.

Can anyone take a pick of this please? I love Velcro tape and may add some before too much scratching occurs.

I am glad I found this thread as I was wondering what the stuff was for too.

If horse racing is the sport of Kings, should drag racing be the sport of Queens?
