| Hi All, I need a definitive answer to the following : Are MINI delears obliged to deliver a new MINI to the purchasers home address on a transporter if it is requested. On my last 2 brand new cars, a VW Golf and BMW 3 series, the delears was happy to deliver the cars anywhere in the UK on a transporter. The MINI delear I have orderd the car from is flatly refusing to do this and will only agree to get one of their drivers to deliver it or I collect it myself. The dealer is in Birmingham and I am in Bristol. Surely this should be covered by the delivery charge. Can anyone clear this up for me. | I always understood the delivery charge was to the dealer,(they haveto prep the car)then dealer made own arrangements to deliver to the customer. I cannot see that they are obliged to deliver on a transporter. | This is correct, the delivery charge is not there to cover delivery to you but in order to get the car to the dealership from the factory. There is no obligation on the part of the dealer to deliver the car to your address, although most would do so if prompted. Bear in mind that your dealer may not have a transporter to deliver your car on!!! In which case threatening them will not gain anything except bad feeling. You would do far better using a sob story technique of how hard it is for you to get up and rely on them feeling bad and wanting to help. Why did you use Birmingham in the first place? and did you not discuss this with them at the outset? If they siad they would originally and now they say they won't then your laughing. | i can see your problem, being so far from the dealer, but i always prefer to pick up from the dealer myself so that if there is anything wrong with the car you can refuse to accept it while it's still on their forecourt. One new car of mine had been scuffed on the forecourt by another car. If this had been delivered to my home it would have been much harder to argue that it had been there on delivery & not happened later while parked at home. ALWAYS check the car very carefully when it's time to pick it up - saves tears later. |

| Thanks for the replies. I now know where I stand at least. I purchased from Birmingham as that was the earliest delivery date available. I can collect it but obviously it is a day of my time which I would rather not have to use. The point about collecting it from the dealer and picking up faults at that stage is a good one though Oh well. You win some and you lose some Thanks Dan Cooper S Dark Silver/White Roof, Chilli Pack, Climate, Full Leather, CD + Concours 1967 MK1 Mini. Original Arden 8 Port Head (185 BHP). |

| Not living in the UK, I have no idea if a home delivery is the norm but from where I sit (here in the US), I have never heard of a home delivery, period. Moreover, I want to go to the dealership to pick up the car. If some problem, even if it's one that arises for the most innocent of reasons, crops up in the delivery process, being at the dealership offers the chance for someone to put the problem right. |

| Flipper, Thank you for that stunning piece of advice. If I had realised delivery was not included then obviously I would have. All the other new cars I have purchased have been delivered no problem Cooper S Dark Silver/White Roof, Chilli Pack, Climate, Full Leather, CD + Concours 1967 MK1 Mini.
