Production cut backs?

I just ordered a mini s convertible from Main Line Mini in March and was supposed to take delivery next week. It's still on order and NOT even in production yet ....uggghh - have been told there are production cut backs responsible for the delay? Has anyone heard of this happening to others or is the dealer jerking me around?

Seems a bit quick to make it and get it to you in 8 weeks in the first place...but 8 weeks and not even in production....sounds like someone forgot to order!

yup, Mini are taking agency workers back on now, prices continue to rise on used minis ( R56) due to lack of supply.

The Cooper S(R56) is one of the most sought after used cars at the moment due to low tax, High MPG and high performance. its attracting lots of the "Downgraders" who chopping in their boxsters or other sports cars for something more sensible but still cool enough to park in the tennis club car parks.

Yes yes there has certainly been a lot of staff cutbacks at the MINI production plant, and reduced working hours. I would have thought though that your MINI should be in production pretty soon - if its been 8 weeks I don't thing you should have long to wait. Delivery time will of course add further extra weeks waiting time. Hope you don't have to wait too much longer - but it will be worth the wait!

Mine was ordered 2 April, the dealer told me on 16 April it had completed assembly and I drove it away 27 April - they said the car transport process is running slow at present.

MINI is having a tough time of it recently. The recent models do not seem as desirable as before - not helped by the fact that you could strike a match on some of the plastic that now makes up the interior cabin.

Put it like this: Jaguar sold 153 more cars than MINI did in April.

I'd imagine potential buyers would be buoyed by the improved customer satisfaction and "overall satisfaction" results the 2nd gen car gets, I think the prospect of selling (or buying) a "premium" small car, at a premium cost, is more the issue in the current climate.

Like people have said, MINI has been having a tough time recently (hasn't everyone!), so maybe things aren't running as smoothly as before.

Although I was told on wednesday if I'd have placed an order for a Cooper S Convertible that day I'd have had it the first week in June.
