mini + diesel on road = not good!!!!!

My mini has kept me uninjured having just crashed on a roundabout. Just me , the mini and some railings involved, the police turned up and informed me that it looked like the roundabout was covered in diesel. The council came out and put sand down for everyone else. Whilst waiting for the recovery a few people were skidding to a stop/understeering. Let me tell you there is no traction on a diesel covered roundabout.

Bonnet, front bumper, passenger side suspension and wheel , front wings, side skirt all need replacing from what i could see. Mini emergency service collected the car and will deliver it to a local BMW dealer on monday.

Only had her two months aswell. We shall see what happens next.

Anyone else had a crash and been repaired ? Were the repairs by BMW dealer or one recommended by the insurance company. ?

Lee

Sorry to hear about that mate, at least you're OK. I'm sure that MINI Accident Management will make sure the car's repaired at a BMW dealer, but you can insist on it anyway as warranty may be affected if not.
Hope it goes smoothly, I'm sure it will. Let us know how you get on.

Bummer. At least you are OK.
Did air bags deploy? I'm guessing not due to nature of the impact.
This happened to a buddy of mine many years ago. Deisel leakage at a stop light, he hit it and went sailing. The police followed the deisel trail to a business not far away and impounded the truck. It was a leak in the fuel tank. The driver and Co. owner got nailed for all sorts of violations including environmental violations. Insurance Co. went after them big time.

boreel, I'm sorry to hear about your accident. Will the council assist with your deductable? (I forget the UK name for the part of the insurance you must pay when you have an accident).

It's a shame, but an unfortunate occurence due to the state of some of the vehicles on the road, and that fact it hasn't rained in a while

Glad you're OK though

.

My dad also had a similar crash and thanks to Preston Hall BMW , North East , a small job which would normally would have taken about a week took them 3 , and when we piced up the car the overall workmanship was appaling as well as the customer services , but i hope you do not encounter this kind of hassle.

My Diesel was the unfortunate victim of a loose roof tile in January, took it to MillMini near Sunderland and they quoted me £550 for a scratched rear bumper, I drove down the A19 to Preston Hall, bloke there quoted me verbally £200 and he would fax me the quote. When I got the fax it had gone up to... £550. Found out later that Preston Hall BMW is part of the Mill group.

So much for competition eh?

Unhappy

Hard luck but at least you walked away.

Had all new roof lining and big dent in front of roof plus new fittings and windscreen etc done to my cooper £1000 of repairs. Done by cotswold BMW they were great! (they have their own paintshops and everything). MINI insurance were pants though, both myself and the dealer struggling to get things organised through them and loads of hassle with excesses and stuff. In the end I told cotswold to do it and just paid in cash without the hassle of the insurance!

You should be OK esp[ecially if the dealer does the work.
