Offline | I think there are a few important things to keep in mind here: 1. MINI owners seem to be a pretty obsessed bunch, so they notice every little niggle and glitch and feel the need to point it out. However, even so, most of them still are absolutely thrilled with the car even if they do experience some problem or other. (Most.) 2. People in general tend to squawk when there is a problem or an issue. How often do you see people making a big deal when everything is just normal? I think the fact that MINI owners cherish their cars in spite of the problems is an even bigger testimony than the fact that they point out the problems! BTW, after 5 months and 8k miles, I've got a few niggles. Nothing big. I still get pure joy out of each and every drive! ![]() |

Offline | I've got my S about 3 months now, and the only problem is a little bit of creaking from the weatherstrips, which I'm thinking will probably ease up once they compress more to their mating surfaces. I just keep wiping them down with rubber treatment, and even now, they seem to have gotten less creaky than they were. Other than that, the car seems to be tight as a drum. Just out of curiosity (and to ease your mind), you might want to check out some forums for other makes and models of cars. I'm sure you'll find plenty of the same on their sites. Even alot more expensive autos. I happened to read an owner's review online last week for his new Ferrari, and he trashed it! 2002 MCS, DS/B/BBS, Sport, Prem, Cloth, 17's 1969 Morris Cooper MK2, Tartan Red/Black, 998cc, Twin HS2's |

Offline | I agree that the faults and fixes area can be a little depressing, but I don't agree that that the people with problems are whingers and moaners. I'm sure the quality of cars coming out the factory now are in some way due to that area of what is the most popular MINI site (and BMW frequented) on the planet. The sqeeky wheel, etc.......... ![]() |

Offline | I took delivery of my Cooper S on 9 Nov (Chilli Red with white roof, white wheels, Chilli pack, Sat Nav and sunroof). There was a slight creaking noise from the glove box but that seems to had settled in and stopped within 200 miles. Otherwise the build quality seems excellent. The sunroof is fantastic and lets a lot of light into the car. I've been impressed with the whole process of ordering, updates and handover of the car by the dealer (although 5 months is along time to wait! - but worth it in the end) Well done Bee Emm |

Offline | My Cooper was a bit of a lemon, but my S in comparison is relatively fault free. They're more down to carelessness than anything else. So please people don't get too disheartened reading the 'Faults & Fixes' thread. I have to admit I didn't like reading it whilst I was waiting for my Cooper, but things are definitely improving. And one thing to take note...the majority of people who rejected their Mini opted to get another one. That should tell you how good the cars are to drive. ![]() Global Moderator ![]() |
